In Fremont, CA, we serve global clients in telecom and datacom industries in providing innovative optical modules to support our customer’s next generation networks.
We are looking for a Senior Automation Engineer to join our team. This team will be responsible for MEMS optical cross-connect switches’ design, development, and manufacturing in our Fremont facilities.
This person will work with multi-discipline teams, including sales and marketing, product line managers, electrical, mechanical, and optical R&D teams, and work with colleagues of different geographic sites.
What You Will Do
- Design and develop the manufacturing automation system for optical cross-connect switch products.
- Work with product development team on manufacturing requirement and design solutions that improve production processes efficiency, quality, and cost.
- Design and develop control systems for automated manufacturing equipment.
- Integrate automation equipment and systems into existing manufacturing execution system (MES).
- Work with NPI and production team on smooth transferring of the manufacturing automation system for volume production.
- Sustain and lead the continuous improvement to optimize automated processes.
- Implement quality metrics to ensure that automated processes meet regulatory and quality standards.
- Create and maintain documentation related to automation systems, including specifications, manuals, and standard operating procedures.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering (electrical, mechanical, industrial automation, or related field).
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing automation engineering position
- Proficiency in automation technologies, including PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) programming, HMI (Human-Machine Interface) design, Windows application programming in C++ / C#, Python, etc.
- Solid foundation in control theory, robotics, and automated manufacturing system.
- Familiarity with industrial standards and regulations related to manufacturing automation.
- Strong communication skills for teamwork, troubleshooting, brainstorming.
What Will Put You Ahead
- 7 years of experience in manufacturing automation engineering in the optical communications industry.
- Project management expertise and leadership of geographically distributed team for deliverables on time and within budget.
- Fluency in Mandarin
