Job Description

The and is seeking a PhD, MD or MD / PhD researcher for a full-time Tenured Associate Professor faculty position. Investigators conducting hypothesis-driven research and with five or more total years of full-time experience at the level of associate professor are being sought.

The following will be considered in evaluating a candidate’s application :

  • Scholarly Achievement
  • Demonstrated success at external funding sufficient to support the research effort expected from a tenured faculty member in his or her specific research area, and a strong likelihood of sustained funding at that level.

Primarily, the search committee will look for success in securing federal funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

However, success in obtaining funding from other sources (such as state and foundation funding) will also be considered.

The quality and quantity of papers published in refereed journals. These may include original research and review articles.

The quality of the journals themselves and the position of authorship will also be considered. The candidate’s publication record should demonstrate important and original contributions to their field, substantial independent scholarship and important research contributions, including opening new avenues of investigation and / or new ways of tackling a fundamental question.

  • Contributions to textbooks (e.g., book author and / or editor, chapter author, etc.).
  • Presentations of research and / or scholarly material and published abstracts associated with professional or scientific meetings.
  • Patent or patent applications, editorship of a journal, editorial board / reviewer for a journal, table clinic participation, panelist on professional panels, grant reviewer, or NIH study section involvement.
  • Documented reputation as a scholar / researcher at the national and international levels, including invitations to lecture at other universities.

2.Institutional and Community Service

  • Participation in the administration and governance of the candidate’s institution, including active and productive participation in committees at various levels.
  • Participation in university activities, such as recruiting, faculty meetings, research events, etc.
  • Helping and encouraging the professional growth of junior faculty members and other colleagues.
  • Service to the profession of psychiatry and other appropriate discipline(s) at the state, national and international levels.
  • Consultative services to other health professionals, hospitals, institutions of higher education, and governmental agencies.

Qualifications :

  • MD, PhD or MD / PhD in Psychiatry, Neuroscience, Psychology or related field
  • Success in authoring original research and review articles in refereed journals. The quality of the journals themselves and the position of authorship will be considered.
  • Success in securing federal funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) or other sources (such as state and foundation funding).
  • Demonstrated research skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Flexibility and ability to work in a rapidly changing / growing educational institution
