Job Summary
The Cost Analyst will support Global Exploration and is responsible for developing, implementing, and updating the tools and systems necessary to effectively support Exploration.
The position will provide the necessary transparency and feasibility in coordination with accounting and management information systems to facilitate meeting company performance and financial goals.
The Cost Analyst will work in our Houston Corporate office and may work two (2) days a week remote.
Responsibilities
- Be the focal point for cost tracking for all of Exploration’s international and GOM assets
- Develop / manage planning cost metrics and tools required to track and report performance data
- Prepare monthly forecast and annual budget with Exploration Managers
- Assist with SAP processing and tracking of accruals
- Work with finance on external cash call submissions
- Understand the G&A corporate process and provided input on a monthly basis
- Identify and perform gap analysis on variations between actuals versus budgets to advise internal clients accordingly
- Retrieve and analyze data from various reporting systems
- Track and benchmark corporate / team metrics
- Manage and track all group / team KPI’s as required
- Collaborate with Finance, drilling, procurement and Planning & Performance team members to ensure data is captured accurately
- Tactfully and effectively interact with the various stake holder counter parts to ensure information is accurately communicated in a timely manner
- Report project budgets, commitments, expenditures, forecasts, and accruals
- Support audits of financial information by both internal and external auditors
- Perform ad hoc financial support / review as needed
Qualifications / Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance and or Business Administration
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in oil and gas cost analysis
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with geologist, engineering, and management
- Working knowledge of cost accounting concepts
- Proficiency with SAP Business System
- Applied knowledge of planning & cost analysis
Desired / Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with databases such as Spotfire / Hyperion
- Strong interpersonal and analytical skills and the ability to work with internal and external contacts
- Must have a strong work ethic and a passion for excellence
- Able to accept a challenge and reciprocate the required deliverables
