Class Summary

Job Description This Trades Technician II (Electrician) is responsible for performing specialized trades duties, which include the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems.

Essential Duties

  • Performing installations, repairs, and general maintenance within functional areas
  • Responding to field and emergency calls to troubleshoot, repair, or replace damaged equipment
  • Assisting Master Electricians on large projects
  • Assisting in preventative maintenance of electrical gear
  • Providing completed service request paperwork to the Electrical Foreman
  • Maintaining and stocking assigned work-truck following standard operating procedures
  • Maintaining accountability and compliance for a county-issued credit card, cell phone, and tablet
  • Preparing and setting up tools, equipment, and materials as needed
  • Working with outside vendors
  • Answering and monitoring email accounts
  • Maintaining a healthy and safe working environment

This job is a safety-sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing.

Grade

The grade for this position is B213. Salary will be dependent on education and experience.

Effective 4 / 11 / 2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program. Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Two years of electrician trade experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications in addition to the above minimum qualifications

  • Industrial or commercial electrician trade experience
  • Experience using Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Experience using a computerized asset management program

Each department is run by a director who is charged with managing operations in a manner which stresses the County's values.

In addition to the executive side of County government, certain services are provided through Constitutional officers and independent elected officials.

These external offices are created by the Georgia Constitution or through state law. In Gwinnett, they include the Sheriff, Tax Commissioner, District Attorney, Solicitor, Probate Court Judge, and Chief Magistrate.
