Role : Wintel / VMware Engineer (VMware / Windows experience)
Worksite : Remote (US Locations Only)
Hours : Standard working hours + Oncall Off Business hours
Job Description :
- To manage and support all Windows servers including the Operating System.
- To recover Windows servers in the event of hardware failure
- Working knowledge on Windows Installation, transition, upgrades, space management, troubleshooting and maintenance
- Deployed Microsoft windows OS Patches released by Microsoft on Servers,
- Provide good support to mission critical midrange server infrastructure and possess good understanding of server hardware architecture and performance.
- Provide inputs in capacity planning and consolidation of Wintel based server infrastructures including virtualized environments.
- Deep level troubleshooting skills on complex issues with Wintel based server infrastructures including performance and capacity issues.
- Ensure availability and performance of Windows instance / VMware hypervisor can fully support the applications.
- Proactively monitor the Windows systems / VMware hypervisor to ensure services are up and running.
- To collate and maintain full server inventory.
- To review and agree BAU acceptance of change records on Server Management supported environments.
- To be Technical Experts in a number of supported Technologies Citrix, Clustering, ESXI etc
- To proactively manage all issues raised as problems and perform root cause analysis where requested.
- Perform system health checks both of operating system and supported technologies such as Exchange.
- Escalate service enhancement suggestions to the Server Management team.
- Provide responsive action to any high priority issue by providing the agreed level of technical cover x hrs
- Respond to monitoring alerts and execute reporting of system health and capacity through the use of tools and procedures to ensure compliance with service level agreements and operational standards
- Experience in scheduling and automating deployments in Wintel based server infrastructures
- Extensive experience in Windows Remote Desktop Services Setup and licensing
Technical Skills :
- Virtualization Technologies VMWare, vSphere, vCenter
- Knowledge on Hyper-V Server and Hyper-V Server
- Basic Knowledge on storage - SAN , NAS & Backup , Network technologies
- Expert knowledge on MSCS clusters with Windows Server and Windows Server / Failover Clustering
- Good working knowledge on ESXI and related cluster support and Vcentre knowledge.
- The candidate should have attained professional certifications in the ANY of following areas
- AWS / Clienture / VMware / Windows Server
- Extensive knowledge on the latest editions and at least earlier editions of the Windows Server Operating Systems ( / / / )
- Experience in Windows Scripting vbScript, PowerShell will be added advantage
- Good Hardware Knowledge on Client, IBM , DELL servers
- Proficient in Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
- Create and document technical Artifacts for the solution Power Point for higher level design representation, Technical Visio Drawings, Configuration Details / Test Plans in Excel and Detailed descriptions in Microsoft Word.
