We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our team. The Occupational Therapy Assistant will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) to provide high-quality care and services to our patients.

Special Needs Network, Inc. (SNN) is a nonprofit grassroots organization responding to the crisis of autism and other developmental disabilities in underserved communities.

We recognize the intersectionality of individuals with disabilities and that their fight for disability rights is inextricably tied to the fight for racial justice and the civil rights of all people.

Our programs and campaigns bring change through legislation and policy as well as through direct collaboration with parents, caretakers, social justice organizations, and healthcare professionals.

The Center for Autism and Developmental Disorders (CADD) is set to open in June 2023 and will be the first comprehensive medical and developmental clinic in the state in a predominantly minority and low-income community.

It will be multidisciplinary with a team of BCBAs, OTs, SLPs, Clinical Psychologist, and developmental pediatricians.

  • Responsibilities : *
  • Collaborate with occupational therapists to develop and implement treatment plans based on patient needs and goals.
  • Assist patients in improving their physical and cognitive abilities through therapeutic exercises, activities, and interventions.
  • Observe and document patients' progress, responses, and concerns during therapy sessions.
  • Teach patients and their families how to use adaptive equipment and assistive devices effectively.
  • Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients throughout their therapy sessions.
  • Maintain a clean and organized therapy area, ensuring the availability and proper functioning of equipment and supplies.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure effective communication and coordinated care.

Requirements :

  • Completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • Valid certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  • Strong knowledge of therapeutic techniques, exercises, and interventions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for helping others.
  • Ability to adapt to various healthcare settings and patient populations.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Current CPR certification.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Previous experience working as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  • Specialized knowledge or experience with pediatric autistic clients.
