As a Color, Material, and Finish Designer on the RL Industrial Design team, you bring extensive knowledge of industry trends, forecasting, color development and management, and have the technical knowledge to translate a creative vision into production-ready materials and processes.

You have a record of shipping successful products in the Consumer Electronics, Wearable Technology, Fashion, or Eyewear industries and are comfortable working collaboratively with cross-discipline teams and manufacturing partners.

Your insights, creative input, and development efforts will help guide the unique style and distinctive look of our brand.

Responsibilities :

  • Interface with industry to research and develop proprietary and innovative hardware styles, construction details, material combinations, new production techniques, etc.
  • Assist in the continual gathering and sharing of trends in consumer electronics, eyewear and fashion markets
  • Create fully resolved CMF strategy for presentation to team members, partners and manufactures.
  • Assist in the resolution of design, prototyping and manufacturing issues during the development phase; create fully resolved solutions to communicate and resolve manufacturing and prototyping challenges
  • Manage and maintain CMF product specifications for products in development from concept to production

Job Specifications

  • Bachelors of Industrial Design from an accredited college or university, or relevant professional experience required
  • 5+ years experience working as a CMF Designer / Developer
  • Proficiency in communicating design vision, and concepts using 2D color renderings and 2D CAD. 3D CAD and visualization experience is a plus
  • Excellent organization skills, detail oriented, and has the ability to multitask across different projects and categories
  • Working knowledge of plastic injection molding, l fabrication techniques, resin development, coating technologies, plastics decoration processes, fabrics and textiles
  • Occasional domestic and international travel is a requirement for this position

Nice to have :

Experience working with electronic products , rugs, fabric or tool companies

Education :

Bachelors of Industrial Design from an accredited college or university, or relevant professional experience required
