Yamaha has an excellent opportunity for a Procurement Quality Engineer to join our Marine team in Kennesaw, GA. The Procurement Quality Engineer will focus on supplier quality from development to mass production and aftermarket quality.

The Procurement Quality Engineer will cover Supplier Quality Management System (QMS) Audit, PPAP, Design Review, Monthly KPI, Supplier 4M audit, NCMR / SCAR, Supplier Performance Report.

In this role, you will also work with Yamaha internal teams includes Product Engineering, Internal Quality Assurance, Vendor Management, Warehouse, service and Yamaha subsidiaries.

What you'll be doing :

Lead the use of problem-solving skills and tools to identify root causes and define effective corrective actions. Support the execution of corrective action plans and ensure effectiveness.

Complete recurrence prevention activities.

Lead activities and continuous improvement of Quality Management Systems. Complete audits and assessments to find gaps and drive progress.

Demonstrate good practices to set the example for others.

Responsible for quality planning for new product development projects, product / process changes, or new supplier parts.

Execute or ensure supplier execution of the quality plan activities through all applicable project phases, including potentially from pre-kick-off thru monitoring market quality.

Demonstrate to others the correct use tools like APQP, PPAP, P-FMEA, Quality Control Plan, etc. to prevent problems and manage customer risks.

  • Train and develop the quality teams with our manufacturing subsidiaries, suppliers, and product development teams.
  • Work with Quality Managers, peers, and other responsible stakeholders in setting goals and action plans to improve quality results for occurrence and outflow of issues in line with YMUS and YMC directions.
  • Follow YMUS standards and demonstrate best practices to judge conformance of products and processes. Use and influence others in their use of quality tools like product inspection, dimensional measurement, data analysis and reporting, etc.

What you need to be successful :

  • Minimum Education : Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 5-10 years' experience in manufacturing quality assurance, product quality assurance, supplier quality assurance, or manufacturing engineering
  • Marine, automotive, electronics, casting or molding industries preferred
  • Previous experience as a quality team leader, supervisor, or manager preferred
  • At least 1 relevant certification (ASQ CQA, ASQ QE, ASQ CSQP, SME Lean, LSS Black Belt, etc.) or equivalent)
  • Experience implementing, coordinating, or improving compliance of Quality Standards (ISO9001 : 2015, IATF16949, etc.) and Quality Management Systems
  • Experience with problem solving and corrective actions A3, 8D, 5 why, etc.
  • Experience with quality tools quality planning, FMEA, inspection practices, data analysis, SPC, etc.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
  • Travel up to 50% to manufacturing sites, supplier visits, training, product testing or other events, including some international travel requiring a passport.
  • Clarify objectives for others and take proactive actions to meet individual, team, and business goals.
  • Draw out the opinions and ideas of others and build consensus though written and verbal communication.
  • Set challenging goals, demonstrate continual improvement, and develop skills.
