SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Under direct supervision of the Aramark Chef, and under general supervision of the Production Floor Manager, deliver, set up / pick up mobile barbecue grills, propane tanks, equipment and supplies to / from schools and other locations throughout the District.
Delivers perishable foods and supplies to school sites, food preparation, service, and clean-up activities for barbecues and catered events.
Works collaboratively with site kitchen staff, teachers and parents. Performs related work as required.
EXEMPLARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the delivery, set-up and operation of BBQ grill units, supplies and equipment; deliver, assemble, and set up catering equipment and supplies to assigned sites;
- prepare and / or barbeque foods for meal service or catering events by following a specified menu; assist employees engaged in a variety of food preparation activities;
- assist in serving meals and clean-up; return equipment and supplies to the Central kitchen in a timely manner; maintain "on-time" delivery schedule to assigned events and run-backs;
refill propane tanks, and fuel assigned vehicle.
Manually loads items for delivery; verifies load against supply request; operates a half-ton pickup truck, towing a hitched trailer to deliver BBQ grill units, supplies and equipment, or / fourteen foot refrigerated truck to deliver runbacks of prepared and refrigerated food items and products;
ensures food is handled in the proper manner during the loading, transit, unloading, and storage processes.
Inspects assigned vehicle, hitch, trailer, and equipment on a regular basis; identifies needed repairs and notifies supervisor;
fuels vehicle, fills propane tanks, maintain and clean BBQ units and equipment, maintain assigned areas in a clean and safe condition.
Prepares food for meal service, prepackaging, and / or line service; work on automatic packaging line or be assigned to a school site or N.
S. (Nutrition Services) Central Production Kitchen, as needed.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Education / Experience : Any combination equivalent to education and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge and skills is qualifying.
A typical way to obtain the knowledge and experience would be :
- Equivalent to a high school diploma,
- One year of preparing and serving food; institutional food service experience is required with school food service experience desirable.
Completion of a two hour Safeschools course is required within the first year of employment.
Knowledge of : Reading, writing, and basic math; state and local traffic laws and regulations, including defensive driving and emergency procedures;
safe food handling principles and practices, as would apply to assigned duties, and established USDA guidelines concerning nutritional requirements for school breakfast / lunch programs.
- Skill at and Ability to : Read, write, follow and execute verbal and written instructions in English. Operating vehicles up to one half (1 / 2) ton, towing trailer lengths up to 12 feet, and / or 14 foot box refrigerated truck using appropriate judgment in meeting unforeseen or bad weather conditions;
- move / lift and carrying heavy or large objects, such as lifting / hitching a trailer on wheels with BBQ unit / s weighing up to pounds combined weight;
performing strenuous physical work; work under adverse climate conditions in refrigerators and freezers. Establish and maintain working relationships with those contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.
Complete reports, maintain communications via a computer; plan and schedule food preparation activities adhering to specific recipes and menu standards, operate barbeque grill, cooking and food preparation equipment;
assist in training employees; assist in recovering service issues with corrective actions; work flexible shifts as needed to support events as scheduled, work as part of a team.
Licenses / Certificates : Possession of a valid Nevada State Driver's License with a driving record acceptable to the District.
Possession of or ability to obtain a Servsafe Certificate within 60 days from date of hire; and ability to maintain that Certification as mandated by the Washoe County Health Department.
