Position Summary :

As the IT Infrastructure Senior Engineer, you will oversee the comprehensive management and maintenance of our data center infrastructure and IT systems.

This role covers a wide range of responsibilities, including networking, server management, storage solutions, virtualization, security technologies, cloud integration, and compliance.

You will work closely with Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and the internal IT team to ensure optimal performance and reliability of our infrastructure.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Network and Security Management :
  • Design, implement, and maintain the company's network infrastructure, including Cisco Firepower firewalls, Nexus switches, and Meraki wireless access points.
  • Implement and manage network security measures, such as firewalls, VPNs (IPSec and SSL), intrusion detection systems, and DNS-layer security (Cisco Umbrella).
  • Manage internal DNS and DHCP services, ensuring accurate IP address allocation and name resolution.
  • Server and Storage Management :
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain server hardware and operating systems (Windows and Linux), ensuring system stability and performance.
  • Manage SAN and NAS storage solutions, including provisioning, capacity planning, and performance optimization.
  • Implement robust data backup and recovery processes, utilizing tools like Veeam, Backup Exec, or similar solutions.
  • Oversee data backup management, including scheduling, monitoring, and testing backup and restore procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Monitor server and storage environments, addressing issues and planning for future capacity needs.
  • Manage and support Azure hybrid joined environments, integrating on-premises Active Directory with Azure AD to provide a seamless and secure user experience across both environments.
  • Virtualization :
  • Manage and optimize VMware environments, including setup, configuration, and monitoring of virtual machines and networks.
  • Implement and maintain virtualized resources, ensuring efficient utilization and high availability.
  • Collaborate with teams to design and implement virtual infrastructure solutions that meet business needs.
  • Data Center and Environmental Management :
  • Oversee MDF / IDF rooms, structured cabling, and rack management, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
  • Collaborate with the Facilities Management team to manage power distribution, cooling systems, and environmental controls in data centers, including UPS, PDU, and backup generators.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans, considering power and environmental factors.
  • Cloud Integration and Management :
  • Plan, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure solutions, including Azure and other cloud services.
  • Oversee hybrid cloud environments, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance.
  • Manage cloud migration projects and ongoing cloud infrastructure maintenance.
  • Compliance and Governance :
  • Ensure all IT infrastructure operations comply with industry regulations and standards, including HIPAA.
  • Implement and monitor data protection measures to safeguard sensitive information and maintain compliance.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure adherence to compliance requirements.
  • Vendor and Partner Management :
  • Manage relationships with hardware and service vendors, overseeing contracts, procurement, and issue resolution.
  • Serve as the primary contact for network-related issues, including managing existing IPSec tunnels with multiple partners.
  • Unified Communications and Documentation :
  • Oversee unified communications systems, such as VoIP and video conferencing solutions.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of IT infrastructure, including network, server, and storage configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Provide regular reports on infrastructure performance, security incidents, and project progress to senior management.
  • Incident Management :
  • Participate in and lead incident management processes across all infrastructure providing technical expertise to resolve issues promptly.
  • Implement and adhere to ITIL foundational processes, including Incident, Change, and Problem Management, ensuring consistent and efficient handling of IT issues.
  • Comply with all New York Proton Center policies related to Privacy Rules established under the Health Information Privacy and Portability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
  • Perform other job-related duties, as assigned.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years of experience in IT infrastructure management, with demonstrated expertise across networking, server, storage, and virtualization domains.
  • Relevant certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), VMware Certified Professional (VCP), or similar credentials are highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with experience working cross-functionally with IT and other departments.
  • A demonstrated willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies, with a curiosity and hunger for continuous learning and professional growth.

Technical Experience :

  • Comprehensive knowledge of LAN, WAN, WLAN, and VPN technologies, with proficiency in Cisco networking equipment.
  • Strong understanding of network security principles, including experience with Cisco Umbrella or similar DNS security solutions.
  • Expertise in server management, including Windows and Linux operating systems, and hardware maintenance.
  • In-depth experience with SAN and NAS storage systems, data backup and recovery processes, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Proficiency in VMware virtualization technologies, including vSphere, vCenter, and related tools.
  • Knowledge of data center infrastructure, including power distribution, cooling systems, and environmental controls.
  • Familiarity with networking protocols such as TCP / IP, BGP, and OSPF.
  • Experience with infrastructure monitoring and management tools.
  • Understanding of cloud networking technologies (Azure) and virtualization (VMware).
  • Familiarity with ITIL foundational processes, including Incident, Change, and Problem Management.
  • Knowledge of compliance requirements, specifically HIPAA, and best practices for maintaining data security and privacy.
