Responsibilities
Plan and implement child care and educational activities for assigned children.
- Ensure instructional activities are developmentally appropriate and reflect their individual interests.
- Complete required lesson plans and maintain accurate and timely documentation of all required activities and interactions.
- Ensure that assigned equipment and materials are adequately maintained in safe working order and recommends new equipment as appropriate.
- Maintain positive communications with child's parents / guardians and incorporates their recommendations into child's daily routine.
Requirements
Licensure / Certification / Registration :
Food Service Professional credentialed from the ServSafe National Restaurant Association obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
Will accept Food Handler Card through Food Handler Essentials Course through State Food Safety within 1 Month (30 days) of hire or job transfer date.
Heart Saver AED credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
In lieu of Heart Saver, Pediatric CPR and First Aid through ASHI, AHA or LifeSaver Learning, Inc. obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date will be accepted.
Licensed Teacher preferred.
Education :
- Based on Kansas State Regulations, one or more of the following is required : 1) A child development associate credential, OR;
- 2) An A.B. or B.S degree in child development or early childhood education, including a supervised practicum; and three months’ teaching experience in licensed centers or preschools, OR;
3) An A.B. or B.S degree in a related academic discipline, and 12 hours of academic study or equivalent training in child development, early childhood education, curriculum resources, nutrition, child guidance, parent education, supervised practicum and administration of early childhood programs and six months’ teaching experience in licensed centers or preschools.
Additional Preferences
- Must have minimum 1 year experience in KDHE-licensed center.
- CDA or related degree required.
- Previous experience with play-based curriculum for children ages 3-5 strongly preferred.
