Summary
The Assistant Coach is responsible for assisting in the direction of all phases of a nationally competitive athletic program in accordance with Barry University, the Sunshine State Conference, and NCAA DII regulations.
Responsible for supporting the Head Coach by providing individual instruction / teaching of said sport. Also, coordinates community involvement, completing / submitting administrative compliance documents and other duties assigned by Head Coach, Sport Supervisor or Athletic Director.
This is a 11-month position.
August 1st thru June 30th.
Essential Functions
Assists the head coach with instructing / teaching student-athletes in the rules, regulations, and techniques of the sport.
Organizes and directs individual and small group practice activities / exercises as directed by the head coach. Organizes, supervises and conducts teaching sessions.
Assists the head coach with supervising student-athletes during practices and competition.
Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.
Teaches assigned fundamentals and skills during practice and games.
Assist with trailering, boat maintenance, equipment, rigging, and inventory.
Assesses player’s skills and keeps the head coach informed of the athletic performance of students.
Models professional behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.

Recruitsacademicallyqualifiedstudent-athleteswhoformacompetitivesquadandmeetestablished.
academicgoalsandobjectivesofthedepartment. Recruit for both Varsity and Novice.
Participatesincommunityserviceactivities.
InteractswiththeAssociateAD / SWA,ICACompliance,Associate ADStudent-AthleteSuccessandFacultyAthleticRepresentativeonallmatterspertainingtoeligibility.
PerformsadministrativefunctionsinsupportoftheIntercollegiateAthleticprogram :
Cooperateswiththeathleticadministrationintheimplementationofdepartmentpolicies.
AssistsinthedirectionoftheprogramwithinthescopeoftheIntercollegiateAthleticsProgram
Maintainsarepresentativelevelofperformanceintheconferencethatsatisfiesdepartmentalgoalsandobjectives.
ConsultwiththeAssistantAthleticDirectorofComplianceconcerninginstitutional,conferenceandNCAAregulationsthatwilldirectlyaffecttheprogram.
Maintainsadequaterecords
AssistsinManagementofhis / herbudgetandassistsindevelopingfund-raisingeffortsforhis / hersport.
WorkscloselywithSportPerformance,Marketing,DevelopmentandAthleticCommunications.
Manages student data; including admissions, financial aid, registration, and academic performance data. Allsuch data are treated as confidential in accordance with federal, state and university regulations.
TheAssistant Coach updates and maintains information on Compliance Assistant program, Salesforce,Workday,andtheARMSAthleticsprogram.
Work with SWA, Assistant AD, and the rest of staff to ensure policies and daily operations
Qualifications / Requirements
A Bachelor's degree is required. A Master's degree is preferred.
1-3 years of expeirence in similar position.
General knowledge of MS Word and Outlook.
Comfortable preparing and executing projects.
Adept at written and oral communications
