Under general supervision, provides increasingly responsible professional and complex technical and analytical assistance and support related to Public Safety Systems, Workforce Management, Electronic Access Control, and Video Management System.
Implements and monitors these and other systems for use by Public Safety personnel. Setup and maintain Windows-based computers and applications.
Test systems and provide user support and training. Provide timely response to user problems. Maintains liaison between the Data Processing Division and assigned other divisions and departments.
Analyzes procedures including automation and data processing procedures to determine more efficient methods of performing work.
Analyzes and assists assigned departments in the design of their procedures as related to data processing. The above essential duties and responsibilities are not intended as a comprehensive list;

The hours of this position are 40 per week. Must be available for 24 hour call back in the event of a system failure. This is a CHPEA union position.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
The examination will consist of a rating of your training and experience as contained on your application and may include a written test, an oral test, or a combination thereof.
All parts of the examination, including tests and ratings, will be related to the requirements of the position. The examination is designed to measure :
Knowledge of :
- Various computer languages and use of compliers
- Prevailing practices in data processing installations related to procedures and forms design
- Familiarity with the particular computer used by the City and general knowledge of various computers, peripherals, software, trade practices, cost factors, and other related factors;
Ability to :
- Maintain effective relations with other divisions, departments, and employees
- Assume and carry out increasing responsibility and discretion for assisting and advising divisions and departments on matters relating to data processing
- Design procedures and flow charts of procedures and program design, to write instruction manuals and instruct programmers and operators.
Qualifications
Open to all applicants who meet the following qualifications : Graduation from a four (4) year accredited college or university with major course work in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field AND three (3) years of technical experience in Information Systems, including two (2) years of experience in systems analysis.
