This is a global, highly visible role, and key member of the Amazon Robotics team. As a Sr. Manager, TPM, you will be the Amazon’s Sub-same delivery (SSD) robotics team leader for program execution, business planning, developing and implementing mechanisms to create efficiencies in design, and deployment of a next generation robotic fulfillment solution.

This role be expected to manage the full project lifecycle of large complex innovative programs aimed at improving the efficiency and lowering the cost of Amazon’s SSD buildings along with supporting applications in Distribution and Fulfillment centers.

The candidate will shine in ambiguous situations, navigate between the details and big picture, and play a major role in support of our organization’s most visible documents including : monthly and quarterly business reviews, annual operating plans, 3-year vision plans, and the supporting artifacts, including but not limited to Plan of Record, Capacity Planning for General Availability technologies, resource planning and resource management.

The candidate will partner with the leadership team to develop and drive operational processes (Business Reviews, Finance and Operations, Goal Management), technical programs (ability to understand complex technology-driven initiatives and programs), and have a general ownership of the organization’s business cadence.

The right candidate will possess a strong technical program management and process excellence background, will have demonstrated experience leading large, complex initiatives that involving multiple technologies, teams, and cross-functional processes.

The candidate sees around corners, is biased for action in ensuring the team is set up for success in achieving our goals, and earns trust with SSD robotics team and other stakeholders.

Key job responsibilities

  • Lead a team to effectively and efficiently deliver System and Hardware Product Development programs and projects, working closely with mechanical, electrical and embedded systems teams.
  • Interact with Deployment Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Global Support Services, and other key stakeholders to define and deliver requirements to project goals to improve performance, reduce cost, and reduce installation cycle time.
  • Collaborate cross functionally to support solution development and integration.
  • An ideal candidate has experience with hardware / software design and integration.
  • Drive consensus on technical decisions and ensure the appropriate resources are employed to deliver high quality results.
  • Lead the partnership between hardware engineering, product management and systems engineering to develop and decompose comprehensive functional requirements into an actionable scope of work.
  • Identify, assess, track and mitigate issues and risks at the program level.
  • Create, maintain and disseminate project information to stakeholders.
  • Drive effective teamwork, communication, collaboration and commitment across multiple disparate groups with competing priorities.
  • Develop and drive project schedules.
  • Partner with groups external to Hardware Engineering to successfully deliver on project goals.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals.
  • 7+ years of experience leading interdisciplinary discussions between Hardware, Reliability, Firmware, Software, Industrial design and Product management teams to define and drive scope and clarity of work.
  • Experience driving multiple products through a complete life-cycle.
  • Prior experience with robotics and mechatronics or related product.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environment.
  • Basic fundamental knowledge of mechanical and electrical design to channel dependencies with partner teams in Manufacturing Test, Reliability, Sourcing, Hardware Quality, Safety, Compliance, EMC, Firmware, Security and Networking.
  • Proven experience in launching hardware from concept to production. Ability to manage schedule of end of life dependencies along with product obsolescence and sustaining current product in the field.
  • Project Management Professional or Certified Scrum Master certifications.
