The Power Systems Engineer is a critical role within the organization focused on delivering the technical content of the customer’s solution.
The Power Systems Engineer Power Control and Automation focus, is the technical advisor to both internal Schneider Electric (SE) entities and external customers.
This role will evaluate customers technical needs / objectives and deliver a solution that meets project specifications, scope of work, schedule, and budget.
They are the project lead ensuring that the executed work, whether performed personally, or by others within Consulting, meets project specifications and stated scope of work (SOW), delivered on time and within budget.
The Power Systems Engineer advises and supports Business Development Managers and Project Developers by lending technical expertise as needed and ensuring the customer is knowledgeable of Consulting’s capabilities.
The Consulting Engineer will have the opportunity to become proficient in all of Consulting Services’ offers including electrical distribution design, Power Control and Automation (PCA), equipment assessments, power quality assessments, and others.
Typical Responsibilities Proposal and quotation development Technical advice during pre-sale engineering consulting Education of / Consultation with internal / external stakeholders Develop and maintain relationships with key customers both internal and external Develop and maintain high technical and commercial proficiency for all PSE offers Executes engineering work as needed and directed Deliver technical reports Mentor others in their area of expertise Power Control and Automation Focus : Understand and modify wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, one-lines and other standard electrical drawings Create and modify PLC and HMI programs for standard Automatic Transfer Applications such as Main - Main, Main - Generator, Main Tie - Main, and Main Tie Generator applications Modify and develop Sequence of Operations (SOO) procedures to meet project specifications and requirements Perform startup / commissioning activities to verify proper system operation in accordance with the SOO Select required components and create bill of material (BOM) based on project requirements Lead troubleshooting as needed to identify and correct system operation issues Minimum Qualifications : BSEE or MSEE 5 years’ experience as an electrical engineer Experienced with power system / controls engineering including PLCs and HMIs Proficient in MS Office applications Preferred Qualifications : Professional Engineer (PE) license Experience in the following areas of expertise : Switchgear Automation Electrical power quality assessment ATO programming Relay programming and commissioning Electrical maintenance and testing experience Electrical power system studies Electrical distribution design Ability to analyze and interpret engineering documents, codes and standards, technical procedures Anticipates and communicates project risks and implements mitigation strategies Collaborative and influential communication style Willingness to work remotely Capability to work individually or with a team ESTIMATED TRAVEL : 30-50% frequent travel
