Ocean State Veterinary Specialists is Seeking a Learning and Development Manager to coordinate and supervise the clinical portion of the veterinary support staff program including writing lesson plans, giving lectures, and assessing learning progress.

Duties and Responsibilities :
- Setting the standard / modeling the standard for performance, conduct, pride, initiative, professionalism, patient care, and client service.
- Demonstrates skills required in the veterinary profession, and provides training on knowledgebase, techniques, and terminology.
- Prepares performance-based objectives and outlines for course of study following curriculum guidelines and State and Federal guidelines.
- Organizes a training program of practical and technical instruction.
- Evaluates leveling system, content, and assessments on a semi-annual basis and provides updates as needed.
- Develop a training academy made up of each level of medical support staff.
- Provides onboarding and leveling system introduction to new hires.
- Assess current and incoming nursing staff levels. Develop a training plan and skills sheet for each team member.
- Collaborate actively with the Learning & Development team, including but not limited to the Learning & Development regional manager and Director of Technician Mentorship to optimize team development, career mapping, and retention.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
- Associate degree in veterinary technology or a related field.
- Active technician license in good standing.
- VTS preferred.
- 4 years of proven experience working with professionals and open to earning advanced credentials.
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Superior technical knowledge and skills
- Proficient time management, ability to problem solve, learn, and handle multiple tasks
- Enthusiastic team player with a patient, positive, and professional attitude
- Must have the ability to adjust to changes in the environment and able to handle stress in a calm manner
- Must be able to anticipate patient needs and be detail oriented due to the high level of quality medicine
Physical Requirements :
- Tolerate walking and standing for at least thirty (30) minutes at a time, multiple times a day.
- Lift and / or carry up to 50 pounds from floor to waist level or higher at least several times per day.
- Frequent ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form to solve problems involving several variables
- Use hands and arms to handle, install, position, and move materials, equipment, and supplies without assistance.
- Handle, position, and restrain live animals of small and large animal species.
- Be able to have sustained contact with multiple species of animals and be amenable to learning the safe handling, restraining, and working with these animals.
