Duties
Under direction, performs varied clerical and secretarial duties for and relieves supervisor of minor administrative duties.
Maintains a close and highly responsive relationship to the day to day work activities of the office of the Dean of Student Services.
Work requires knowledge of programs and procedures relating to the work of the supervisor, as well as other departmental personnel.
The Secretary II is dedicated to the learning college concepts by developing programs and facilitating activities that promote student success and lifelong learning.
Education / Experience Education / Experience Requirements
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); a minimum of one year specialized training in related area (educational or vocational certificate);
and minimum of three (3) years’ related clerical / secretarial experience in a general office environment required.
Associate’s degree preferred.
Qualifications In addition to the above requirements, the following qualifications are sought :
- Ability to read, comprehend and compose instructions, correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write routine reports, minutes and correspondence.
- Effective communication skills, interpersonal skills and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment with professionalism.
- Ability to type 50+ words per minute and use a computer. Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
- Demonstrated strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Ability to handle confidential material and maintain confidence.
- Plus, ability to complete other duties as assigned.
Note : Software and skills proficiency testing for the Secretary II level position will be required upon hire and must be successfully completed within the probationary period, if this testing has not been previously completed.
Proficiency testing will include basic Word, basic Excel, alpha filing, keyboarding test, data entry, proofreading and other tests for the role .
