The Florida Gaming Control Commission is responsible for exercising all regulatory and executive powers of the state with respect to legal gaming, including pari-mutuel wagering, cardrooms, slot machine facilities, oversight of gaming compacts, and other forms of gambling authorized by state law, excluding the Lottery, as well as directly enforcing Florida's gaming laws and combatting illegal gambling activities.
The agency is overseen by five commissioners who are appointed by the governor, with commissioners appointing an executive director who leads a team of nearly 200 staff members. The mission of the Florida Gaming Control Commission is to preserve and protect the integrity of gaming activities through fair regulation, licensing, effective criminal investigation, and enforcement.

The working hours for this position are 8 : 00 a.m. to 5 : 00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Good attendance is essential for any individual in this position, as the work involved occurs daily and is time sensitive. The individual in this position is expected to report to work daily and on time. Leave must be requested in advance except in emergency circumstances not under the control of the employee.
Position duties and responsibilities include :
- Reviewing and processing occupational license applications related to gaming activities regulated by FGCC.
- Taking appropriate action in the licensing database to facilitate the issuance of a license for eligible applicants.
- Identifying deficient applications and notifying applicant of the errors and / or omissions within 30 days.
- Creating checklists to ensure all requirements have been met.
- Retrieving criminal history reports from the FDLE website; matching the criminal history with the application and determining whether further documentation is required from the applicant.
- Answering public inquiries regarding pari-mutuel, cardroom, and slot machine occupational licensing laws, rules and / or policies and procedures.
- Responding to customer inquiries via email, telephone, OnBase Escalation, and Smart Sheet Correspondence process.
- Assisting with scanning fingerprint cards for electronic submission to FDLE and retrieving fingerprint results on an as-needed basis.
- Assisting with scanning and indexing documents into OnBase, the Commissions imaging system.
- Answering questions from the field staff and the public regarding pari-mutuel, cardroom, and slot machine occupational licensing laws, rules and / or policies and procedures.
- Performing special projects and other duties assigned by the Licensing Administrator or the Chief of Operations.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities include :
Computer skills to effectively utilize Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and internet browser software programs and competency in the operation of standard desktop computers, printers, and optical scanners.Aptitude to develop, absorb, and retain general knowledge of gaming operations.Skills and knowledge of general office methods and procedures, filing, telephone techniques, and office equipment, as well as English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.Ability to work in a team environment, as well as a strong work ethic and self-motivation to work independently.Minimum qualifications include :
Three (3) years of administrative or clerical experience in an office setting; orAn associates degree from an accredited college or university and one year of administrative or clerical experience in an office setting.Preferred qualifications include :
