SUMMARY : The Materials Coordinator is responsible for processing MRP reports and creating purchase orders to ensure materials and supplies are available to meet production schedules. This role focuses on accurate PO placement, order tracking, and coordinating with suppliers to confirm details and secure on-time delivery. Working within established guidelines such as minimum order quantities and safety stock levels, the Materials Coordinator helps maintain efficient inventory flow by collaborating with production, engineering, and materials management. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage a high volume of transactions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Review Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and inventory reports to identify purchasing needs.
- Create, issue, and track purchase orders for materials, supplies, and miscellaneous items.
- Verify supplier order confirmations for accuracy and resolve any pricing or quantity discrepancies at the time of order placement.
- Expedite orders as needed to maintain uninterrupted production schedules.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and materials management teams to resolve purchasing and inventory discrepancies.
- Track vendor performance, monitor on-time deliveries, and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
- Support special orders and new product purchases by assisting with quoting and procurement planning.
- Investigate and reconcile PO to invoice discrepancies for accounts payable.
- Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, inventory receipts, and vendor communications.
- Participate in corrective actions regarding inventory variances as requested.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned to support the purchasing function.
QUALIFICATIONS :
High school diploma or GED required; college coursework in Purchasing, Supply Chain, or Accounting preferred.Minimum 3 years of experience in a full-time purchasing role within a manufacturing environment.Experience with ERP / MRP systems and strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities.Reliable attendance, punctuality, and adaptability.Knowledge of procurement best practices and vendor management preferred.WORKING CONDITIONS :
