Position Summary :

Discovery Life Sciences is seeking a visionary and data-driven Marketing Director (individual contributor) to lead the strategic planning and execution of marketing initiatives across its Specialty Lab Services division. This role is responsible for driving market awareness, aligning marketing efforts with Discovery’s overarching growth strategy, and increasing share across key sectors including biopharma, diagnostics, and life sciences.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership in thought development, integrated communications, and cross-functional collaboration, while managing high-impact marketing programs that translate scientific excellence into commercial success.

A Day in the Life of the Director, Marketing Operations at Discovery Life Sciences :

  • Strategic Collaboration : Partner with cross-functional leadership teams (Sales, Scientific Affairs, and Lab Operations) to develop and align marketing strategies that meet business goals and growth objectives.
  • Campaign Execution : Work closely with the marketing team to conceptualize, develop, and launch impactful campaigns that differentiate Discovery's services in the biopharma, diagnostic, and life sciences sectors
  • Thought Leadership : Drive thought leadership initiatives, collaborating with internal and external experts to create optimized messaging and marketing content.
  • Performance Reporting : Regularly report on marketing performance and provide insights to the executive leadership team, offering data-driven recommendations.

Must-Have Qualifications (Education, Skills, Experience) :

  • Bachelor’s degree in related marketing, science, or equivalent field required.
  • 8 years' experience marketing similar services to biopharma, diagnostic or life science industries in director level or product manager roles
  • Experience within the clinical diagnostics field or within a field of genomics, proteomics, or molecular pathology preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of the biopharma and biotech landscape, including market trends, competitive analysis, and customer insights.
  • Strong expertise in marketing strategies working cross-functional stakeholders to effectively communicate value propositions and differentiate services in the market.
  • Proficient in developing and executing multi-channel marketing campaigns, including digital marketing, content marketing, events, and partnerships.
  • Extensive experience leading cross-functional marketing initiatives to achieve business objectives and drive revenue growth.
  • Familiarity with applicable regulatory guidelines
  • Familiarity with Salesforce required

    • Key Responsibilities :

  • Develop and champion a bold marketing strategy that elevates Discovery’s Specialty Lab Services in the marketplace.
  • Leverage high performing thought leadership strategies for content development and commercial growth opportunities. Work with internal and external subject matter experts to identify and develop optimized, targeted messaging and marketing content for Discovery’s services business.
  • Establish and grow market share for target markets including biopharma, diagnostic, contract research and life science companies throughout all stages of drug discovery, development, clinical trials and commercialization.
  • Provide high level overviews and presentation of specialty lab services marketing performance to executive leadership
  • Collaborative strategic alignment : Work collaboratively within the marketing team, cross-functional teams, and 3rd party contractors with continual curiosity and proactive efforts to effectively execute marketing strategies and tactics.
  • Work with Chief Marketing Officer on development of KPIs that drive increased market share and market awareness
  • Develop and manage specialty lab services marketing budget
  • Collaborate with client facing teams to develop impactful voice of customer strategies, observe competitive market trends, and other market research initiatives
  • Develop innovative marketing communications including data-driven, scientific marketing collateral, advertising, public relations, social media and other marketing communications as needed
  • Train internal commercial, sales operation and business development teams on new services and marketing initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor. These may, on occasion, be unrelated to the position described here.
  • Consistent and predictable attendance is an essential function of the position.

    • Compensation and Benefits :

    Discovery Life Sciences is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices, and we strive to provide employees with total compensation packages that are market competitive. For this role, the anticipated base pay range is $150,000 - $180,000. The exact base pay offered for this role will depend on various factors, including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, skills, and experience.

    • Location and travel :

  • Remote with 5 – 10% domestic and international travel required for mandatory site meetings and tradeshows
