Key Responsibilities
- As a Principal Engineer, you will play a senior leadership role in expanding and delivering Longevity's technical services in the US market, with a specific emphasis on energy auditing & compliance, certification, and advanced building performance strategies.
- Lead and manage delivery of energy audits, including building emissions assessments, energy efficiency retrofits, and emissions intensity benchmarking.
- Oversee technical delivery of complex sustainability and decarbonisation projects, ensuring high-quality, timely results that meet regulatory and client requirements.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, serving as the trusted technical advisor on energy and emissions compliance, net zero roadmaps, and sustainability initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver Energy Audits (ASHRAE Level I, II, and III), Retro-Commissioning (RCx), and other services aligned with LL87 and LL97 requirements.
- Guide clients through navigating regulations, emissions limits, and available incentive programs.
- Support business development efforts by contributing technical expertise to proposals and presentations, particularly for retrofit, carbon management, and net zero opportunities.
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers and analysts, fostering technical excellence and professional growth.
- Represent Longevity Partners at industry forums, events, and working groups, particularly those focused on compliance and decarbonisation in the US real estate market.
- Contribute to strategic planning for US service lines, including innovation in carbon analytics, energy modelling, and sustainability reporting.
Essential Skills and Experience
Technical Expertise
Minimum of 8 years of experience in building energy and environmental performance engineering, with a strong understanding of US energy and carbon regulations, including LL97, Energize Denver, BERDO, Title 24, etc.Proven experience in energy auditing, emissions analysis, and energy modelling (EnergyPlus, eQUEST, IES, etc).Deep knowledge of building mechanical, electrical, and control systems, including optimisation and retrofit strategies.Strong familiarity with building performance standards, benchmarking (e.g., ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager), and rating systems (LEED, WELL, BREEAM, Fitwel).Experience developing capital expenditure forecasts for emissions and energy-reduction strategies.Knowledge of decarbonisation pathways, renewable energy feasibility, and electrification strategies.Regulatory and Compliance Knowledge
Expertise in interpreting and applying local energy and carbon emissions limits and developing compliance strategies.Understanding of reporting and verification requirements for appropriate city agencies.Familiarity with ASHRAE standards, including 90.1 and 62.1, as well as International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) and other US building codes.Professional Credentials
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or actively pursuing license.One or more of the following :Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Energy Auditor (CEA), Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP), High Performance Building Design Professional (HBDP), Building Energy Assessment Professional (BEAP)Leadership and Communication
Proven project management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple high-profile projects simultaneously.Exceptional communication and client relationship skills, with the ability to explain complex technical information clearly to non-technical audiences.Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop technical teams in a collaborative environment.Preferred Attributes
