Production Planning Supervisor at Carlisle Construction Materials
Overview
The Production Planning Supervisor plays a pivotal role in optimizing production processes, requiring advanced knowledge, strategic thinking, and leadership skills to drive operational excellence and meet organizational goals. This position involves advanced planning, analysis, and coordination to meet production targets while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency. The role supervises two direct reports and provides support to dotted-line reports at other sites where master scheduling is deployed. Some travel to the plant(s) and occasional after-hours reviews of production plans may be required.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Production Scheduling / Master Scheduling : Develop and maintain production schedules across multiple manufacturing sites based on demand forecasts, resource availability, and production capacity. Balance production loads and efficiencies to meet customer demand while minimizing lead times and inventory costs.
- Inventory Optimization : Monitor raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods; implement controls to prevent stockouts and excess inventory; monitor and adjust inventory as needed. Raw material ordering in business units may be required.
- Resource Optimization : Coordinate with procurement, manufacturing, and planning to optimize resource utilization; identify opportunities to streamline processes and reduce lead times; resolve resource and material constraints to maintain production flow.
- Data Analysis : Analyze production data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities; apply forecasting techniques to predict future demand and optimize plans.
- Communication and Coordination : Communicate production schedules, priorities, and updates to stakeholders; coordinate with internal departments and suppliers to resolve issues and ensure smooth operations.
- Process Improvement : Identify opportunities for process optimization, waste reduction, and efficiency improvements; lead or participate in cross-functional teams to implement initiatives and best practices.
- Quality Assurance : Collaborate with operations and quality control to ensure production plans meet quality requirements; monitor on-hold items and resolve issues promptly.
- Technology Utilization : Use production planning software, ERP systems, and other tools to automate processes and analyze data.
- Strategic Planning : Contribute to long-term production plans aligned with business objectives and capacity constraints; work with senior management on strategies and initiatives.
- Risk Management : Identify risks and disruptions; develop contingency plans and mitigation strategies to minimize impact on schedules.
- Master Data : Maintain master data as required; may include code creation.
- Projects : Lead projects and Kaizen events, and participate in improvement initiatives.
- Metrics : Monitor KPIs related to production efficiency, resource utilization, and inventory management; analyze data to identify trends and opportunities.
