Job Description : CNC Turret / Laser Programmer (Sheet Metal)
Join a dynamic contract manufacturing team as a CNC Programmer, focusing on offline programming for sheet metal parts. This role involves converting customer models into manufacturable flat patterns using SolidWorks and generating efficient NC programs for turret punch and laser equipment. This position is desk-based, emphasizing programming rather than design engineering.
Responsibilities
- Import and prepare customer-supplied 3D models and drawings in SolidWorks, creating accurate flat layouts using appropriate bend tables and K-factors.
- Build offline CAM programs for turret punch and laser operations using Metamation, AP100, TruTops Boost, or TruTops Classic.
- Perform single- and multi-part nesting to maximize material utilization, applying hit sequencing, micro-tabs, lead-ins / outs, and clamp management to prevent collisions.
- Maintain tool libraries and assign punches, forms, and special tools per part features and machine capabilities.
- Produce program packets, setup notes, and traveler details for production, adhering to revision control and naming standards.
- Collaborate with Quality and Production teams to clarify manufacturability and incorporate feedback into subsequent runs.
- Suggest programming or method changes to reduce cycle time, improve first-time yield, and reduce scrap.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in SolidWorks for sheet metal, sufficient to manipulate customer models and create flat patterns.Hands-on experience with at least one of the following CAM systems : Metamation, AP100, TruTops Boost, or TruTops Classic.Proven offline programming experience for turret punch and / or laser in a sheet metal fabrication environment.Ability to read manufacturing drawings and apply basic GD&T, bend allowances, and shop conventions.Strong attention to detail, organization, and version control.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in bending / press brake and / or fixture design for fabrication.Familiarity with press brake programming in TruTops.Exposure to common gauges / materials (CRS, aluminum, stainless) and typical thickness ranges.Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00 / hr.
