We are proud that many of our custom components are integral to some of the most cutting-edge technology in the world today, from large-scale laser systems investigating nuclear fusion to complex space-based systems studying the origins of the universe.Job Summary : As an Optical Machining Technician I at Bond Optics, you will be responsible for assisting in the manufacturing process of precision optics. You will work under the supervision of experienced technicians and engineers to perform various tasks related to optical fabrication with a focus on shaping optical components. This entry-level position provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience and grow within the field of precision optics manufacturing.Supervisory Responsibilities : None.Responsibilities :

• Assist in the set-up and operation of stationary machining tools, such as surface grinders, OD grinders, Bridgeport and Thompson grinders used for beveling, and the Do-all roughing band saw.
• Monitor machine operations, including tooling changes and part measurements, to ensure quality and efficiency.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting machines, to ensure optimal performance and uptime.
• Assist quality inspections and measurements using precision measuring instruments, and document results as required.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to coordinate work activities and prioritize tasks.
• Follow safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Assist in the blocking of parts for surface grinding.

Required Skills :

Qualifications (Education and Experience) : High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant technical training preferred.

Basic understanding of optical principles and terminology is a plus.Physical Requirements :
