Position Summary

The Senior Payroll Specialist will process payroll functions for accurate and timely distribution and compliance with government regulations. Maintain accurate records of payroll documentation and transactions for bi-weekly payroll for multiple legal entities. Address and resolve employee payroll issues, ensuring data accuracy and compliance with tax regulations. Support cross-functional departments and internal audits related to payroll accounting and tax activities.

Responsibilities

• Payroll Processing and Compliance : Prepare and review bi-weekly payroll packages for multiple legal entities to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions. Maintain accurate records of payroll documentation and transactions. Ensure accuracy of payroll data transmission by documenting and reviewing all pre- and post-processing payroll reports. Verify payroll tax accuracy and state compliance. Reconcile W-2s. Manage and administer the business registration process for new states and localities for payroll tax accounts. Respond to and correspond with state, federal, and / or local government institutions on tax notices. Prepare reporting requirements for state incentive programs.
• Financial and Accounting Support : Calculate, adjust, and process sales commissions. Prepare bi-weekly journal entries and month-end accruals for payroll, Paid Time Off (PTO), commissions, and bonuses. Prepare monthly benefit allocation journal entries. Prepare month-end account reconciliations. Support audit tasks related to payroll accounting, 401K, workers compensation and payroll tax activity.
• Employee and Cross-functional Support : Address and resolve employee payroll issues. Coordinate with and support cross-functional departments with payroll-related activities and matters. Support and participate in collaboration activities to promote and implement continuous process improvement. Research and prepare reports for management.
• Other Duties : Perform additional tasks, duties, and responsibilities as needed or assigned by leadership to support departmental and organizational objectives
