Your Mission
- Determine the materials testing processes / procedure for all in-coming, in-process, offal, and NC testing requirements
- Manage the material testing value stream, ensuring standardization of approach, documentation, and results archiving
- Perform development tests, create and develop technical documentation, establish technical specifications, and manufacturing procedures for launcher structures and other related space products
- Perform sample preparation and support the production team in creation of manufacturing routings and planning for material testing
- Support material characterizations and support the structural design of space structures
- Manage external suppliers to ensure material testing is conducted in-line with internal specifications and results are delivered on-plan as per the Integrated Master Schedule
- Responsible for the establishment of new equipment installation, verification, acceptance, and long term calibration; collaborate with the Materials & Process group for equivalency investigations
- Support wider Materials & Process group in all material-based improvements related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and People
Your Story
B.S. in Materials Science / Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or similar3+ years of directly related experience in mechanical, thermal, and / or physical testingExperience instrumenting hardware and utilizing digital acquisition (DAQ) systems for capturing instrumentation data (load cells, thermocouples, strain gauges, DIC, accelerometers, pressure sensors, etc.) and analyzing this dataExperience overseeing and coordinating production activities in a production environmentExcellent Program Management SkillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsTeam-oriented and able to contribute to collective successGood organizational and coordination skillsFormal Project Management experience / certification, preferredSolid understanding of failure modes, load distribution, and stress calculations and how this relates to testingExperience with mechanical testing at the element, subcomponent, and component levels is preferredExperience in Aerospace or Carbon Fiber Composite (Sandwich, Laminate) industry standard testing is preferredAre you ready for lift-off?
