Estimator - Heavy Civil Construction (self-perform)
Base pay range : $110,000.00 / yr - $140,000.00 / yr
Location : Phoenix, AZ
We are a Heavy Civil General Contractor specializing in wet utility and roadway construction. We operate two offices in Arizona and have extensive experience completing complex projects for both the public and private sectors. Responsibilities
- Developing detailed cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Evaluating and analyzing bid documents, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates.
- Conducting site visits and gathering data to accurately estimate costs.
- Using Microsoft Project to manage and track project timelines and costs.
- Applying value engineering principles to optimize project costs without compromising quality.
- Reading and interpreting blueprints and technical documents to prepare accurate estimates.
- Negotiating with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients to secure favorable prices and contracts.
- Collaborating with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand project scope and requirements.
- Presenting estimates to senior management and clients, explaining the basis for the costs and the methods used to calculate them.
Qualifications
A minimum of 5 years of experience in estimating for heavy civil construction projects, with a focus on self-perform work.Proven expertise in estimating costs for underground utilities, site work, drainage, and roadway construction.Strong knowledge of contract management principles and practices.Proficiency in Microsoft Project or similar project management software.Solid understanding of value engineering principles and techniques.Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.Excellent negotiation skills with a track record of securing favorable terms and prices.Strong analytical and accuracy skills in calculations and estimates.Excellent communication and presentation skills for clear explanations to diverse audiences.Degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field is preferred.Company Highlights
