DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
GILLIG Engineering develops, customizes, and configures GILLIG's clean technology heavy-duty transit buses. Engineers design, analyze, test, launch, and solve problems across a wide range of technical areas. Electrical Engineering focuses on designing, developing, and optimizing electrical systems and components, including low and high voltage power distribution, CANbus network topology and variation, infotainment / CAD / AVL & surveillance system integration to ensure safety, durability, and performance. Collaboration with cross-functional teams ensures regulatory compliance, production troubleshooting, and cost-effective, manufacturable designs for heavy-duty transit buses.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Electrical Engineer / Senior Electrical Engineer role is a hands-on, design-focused position responsible for transit bus electrical systems. Responsibilities include requirements analysis, concept design, detailed design, problem resolution, vehicle attribute design, BOM development, customer application research, and other duties related to designing, configuring, and industrializing electrical systems for manufacturing heavy-duty transit buses. The role influences systems and components to optimize vehicle functionality and performance. This is a direct, full-time on-site position in Livermore, CA reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager, with guidance from senior engineers as needed.
TECHNICAL FOCUS
Apply skills to deliver customized, vehicle-based power and signal distribution systems, including harnesses, devices, fusing, and connectors. Consider routing and environmental conditions for heavy-duty automotive products. Stay current with vehicle electrical power management technology and regulations. Experience with low voltage (12 / 24VDC) and high voltage (600VDC, 240 / 480VAC) is required. Experience in electrical harness manufacturing and / or industrial control systems is a plus.

$75,000 - $164,000 per year + premium benefits
