Overview
We are seeking a Technical Writer with an IT background and a strong understanding of technical processes to support our documentation needs. This individual will write and maintain clear, concise, and structured documentation of technical workflows, IT procedures, and operational processes. The ideal candidate will be process-oriented, experienced in technical writing, and must hold an active Secret Clearance.
Responsibilities
- Document complex technical processes and procedures related to IT operations and systems.
- Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, technical manuals, and user guides.
- Collaborate closely with IT professionals, engineers, and subject matter experts to gather accurate and up-to-date information.
- Translate technical jargon into clear, accessible content for both technical and non-technical users.
- Ensure documentation follows established standards and is structured for usability and consistency.
- Continuously review and update existing documentation in alignment with process changes.
- Apply ITIL framework principles to align documentation with service management best practices.
- Maintain version control and document repositories to ensure traceability and accessibility.
Required Qualifications
ITIL Foundations Certification3+ years of professional technical writing experienceDemonstrated experience documenting IT processes, systems, or workflowsStrong process orientation and ability to define and articulate procedures clearlyExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively with technical teamsPreferred Qualifications
Prior hands-on IT experience or background in IT support, administration, or infrastructureFamiliarity with technical environments including networking, cybersecurity, or systems managementExperience supporting documentation in government or DoD environmentsSalary
Salary range : $60K-$70K, depending on experience
