The Quality Supervisor works with the Quality Manager to formulate and direct the plant-wide Quality Plan, and all activities associated with the development, application, and maintenance of quality expectation standards for manufacturing processes, materials, and products. The supervisor directly oversees and manages quality technician(s) and key inspection points (final test).
Responsibilities :
- Drives corporate quality initiatives
- Supports facility management with operational goals and objectives
- Supports facility engineering through technical studies and input
- Leads continuous improvement efforts based, in part, on facility FPY (First Pass Yield), Internal Rejections, Scrap and Customer Concerns
- Leads and / or assists with 5S and / or Lean Manufacturing initiatives
- Complies with all company policies and procedures and with functional and cosmetic company standards
- Maintains and improves upon the QMS – Quality Management System by promoting Quality awareness and enhancements within the company culture
- Work with other departments to drive corporate initiatives (e.g. : Marketing, Customer Service, Finance, etc.)
- Comply with all safety procedures and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) requirements
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area
- Mentor / Coach employees to ensure optimal performance
- Continually improve upon the Supplier Quality Program by monitoring and reporting on Supplier Quality and utilizing problem solving methodologies in partnership with vendors to drive process and product improvements
- Assist engineering in driving first article approvals
- Develop applicable sampling plans, AQLs (Acceptable Quality Levels) and inspection / audit frequency schedules
- Leads continuous improvement efforts based on results from FPY (First Pass Yield), Internal Rejections, Scrap and Customer concerns
- Leads and / or assists in problem solving methodologies and corrective actions
- Leads 5S and Lean Manufacturing projects
- Participate in MRB, Material Review Board, processes
- Works with production and quality departments to provide feedback to production associates regarding non-compliance issues
- Ensures that all employees accept, reject or quarantine product per established standards and protocols, using essential measurement equipment (e.g. : calipers, micrometers, pin gauges, etc.)
- Develop and maintain a prescribed periodic auditing of the QMS – Quality Management System, driving continuous improvement efforts as necessary
- Maintain employee human resource requirements (e.g. : vacations, attendance, etc.) and provide coaching and disciplinary actions when necessary and within accordance of HR guidelines
- Develop, employ and continually improve upon employee training plans
- Flexibility to work in all areas of Conn-Selmer as directed
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications :
Certified Conn-Selmer Quality Technician or equivalent experienceGreen Belt or Black Belt Six Sigma preferredAbility to communicate and work closely with other departments (e.g. : Finance, Customer Service, Sales, etc.)Associates degree in quality, engineering, business or equivalent experienceProficient in the English language with excellent written and verbal communication skillsExcellent planning and organizational skillsBasic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (e.g. : Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)Ability to work independently as a self-starter with an expectation for positive resultsAbility to employ mechanical aptitude to drive process and product improvementsAbility to walk and stand for majority of shiftVision correctable to 20 / 20Ability to safely lift up to 40 pounds unassistedAbility to perform repetitive work for a prolonged periodExposure to manufacturing environment including dust, noise and vibrationFrequent kneeling, crouching, bending, stooping, reaching and pushing cartsRequirements :
