Summary :

Operate a variety of machines to perform assigned tasks. Produce or repair precision parts using both manual and automated equipment and accurate measurements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Ensures high levels of productivity by reviewing inspections and reports.

2. Collaborates with co-employees to learn additional skills and correct deficiencies.

3. Works with Team Lead in planning, prioritizing, assigning, and reviewing the work and the operation of equipment and preparation of materials.

4. Receives Accepts daily job assignments from department team lead or direct supervisor and ensures job is completed as assigned.

5. Analyze, lay-out and plan jobs, including obtaining diagrams, tools, parts, and necessary supplies. Identifies issues and concerns and promptly communicates or involves the Team Lead or supervisor for resolution.

6. Sets up and operates a wide variety of conventional lathes, mills, presses, and other manual machine shop equipment, to fabricate or repair parts for operations.

7. Operates machine shop equipment to achieve blueprint tolerances, whether for creating new or modified mechanical parts, and devices.

8. Interprets drawings and specifications to determine procedures to be used for repairs.

9. Monitors and controls feed rate and speed of cutting.

10. Ensures the workpiece is properly lubricated and / or cooled.

11. Utilizes precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers to check tolerances, and to ensure the finished product meets the specifications called out in sketches, blueprints, work orders or samples.

12. Fills out forms and reports pertaining to inspection and repair of equipment.

13. Builds machines, parts or equipment as required.

14. Coordinates installation with production and maintenance personnel.

15. Operates cranes, lifts, and mobile equipment as required.

16. Verifies conformance of work piece to specifications.

17. Works cooperatively with other maintenance crews, management members, and vendors.

18. Follows company policies and procedures.

19. Works safely and maintains a safe and clean work environment.

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required.

Education and / or Experience

High school diploma or G.E.D. 5+years of related experience in Manufacturing industry and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Working knowledge of safety protocols, experience working with machine tools or mechanical assembly, ability to read and interpret blueprint, schematics and manuals, hands on experience with machines and hand tools (lathes, grinders, etc.). Strong attention to detail, accuracy and safety.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Must either be certified to 2219 or ASME 1559 or become certified within four (4) months of hire. Certification must be for Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel and Alum materials.

Language Skills

Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
