Job Summary : The Senior Truss Technician will be responsible to design residential and commercial floor and roof trusses using design software. They will use architectural drawings, structural drawings and specifications from architects and engineer, to create layouts and component drawings. Will communicate on a daily basis with both internal and external customers in ensuring all critical information is correctly incorporated in the component designs and layouts.
Key Responsibilities :
Review sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data provided by design professionalsEvaluate the feasibility of design ideas based on safety, function, budget, and market characteristicsResearch production specifications, provide cost estimates, and itemized production requirementsModify and refine designs to conform to customer specifications or building plan changesEnsure compliance with relevant building codes and standardsGenerate truss layouts for final constructionDevelop component documents for work orders to optimize cutting and assembly processesMentor and help train junior technicians, fostering a collaborative and learning environmentContribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the design teamMaintain consistent quality design work within the department.Collaborate with sales, customers, and engineering teams on technical inquiries and design presentationsPresent designs and modifications to sales, customers, architects, and engineersCommunicate with immediate peers and peers in other departments for maintaining continuity of design philosophy and effectiveness of designs.Communicate with customers as needed to clarify the customer expectationsDesired Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications :
Minimum of 5 years of industry experience with a proven track record in truss designExpertise in industry software applications (MikTek Software Suite)High School diploma, GED, or Associates’ Degree requiredProficient in Outlook, Excel, Work, and PowerPointCAD and BIM experience preferredSBCA Truss Technician Level 1 certification preferredEquivalent combination of education and experience will be consideredAbility to analyze technical problems, determine root causes and develop remediation strategies for permanent resolutions.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Ability to recommend changes to drive business objectives.Ability to assess situations to determine the importance, urgency, and risks, making clear decisions in the best interests of the organization.Ability to maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.Ability to effectively operate computer hardware and software.Skilled and proficient in design software.Knowledge of codes such as ASCE7 and TPI.Once eligible, you will participate in our ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan), a unique benefit that can provide a financial source for your future / retirement that very few companies offer.
