Our hotel is currently hiring a Hotel Director of Finance. The Director of Finance is responsible for all activities related to budgeting, forecasting, profit and loss reporting, and account reconciliation for operating and balance sheet accounts for our hotel location.
This role directly oversees all accounting activities related to income auditing, cashiering, accounts payable processing, accounts receivable collection, tax compliance, payroll, and month end processing. This position is a high-profile Executive Committee position. Management-level associates are expected to work as much of each workday as is necessary to complete their job responsibilities.
Compensation : $95,000 and up
Responsibilities :
Essential Duties Responsibilities :
- Develop and achieve financial goals aligned with company strategy, ensuring long-term financial health and performance.
- Advise the General Manager and executive leadership on financial and operational matters to guide strategic decision-making.
- Ensure robust accounting and operational controls to safeguard assets, maximize profitability, and support the development of the annual operating plan.
- Lead sales and operations teams in preparing accurate monthly forecasts and adjusting for business-level changes.
- Analyze financial data, operational performance, and market trends to identify areas for improvement and manage capital expense budgets and reconciliations.
- Complete comprehensive month-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, cost of sales, balance sheet reconciliations, and profit analysis.
- Facilitate monthly PL reviews to highlight challenges, trends, and opportunities, ensuring accurate reporting of revenue, expenses, and cost of sales.
- Verify the accuracy and timeliness of all finance functions, including daily and month-end reporting, payroll, income audit, accounts payable / receivable, and cash and credit card management.
- Oversee internal and external audit processes, including city audits, and manage the accurate collection, posting, and reconciliation of all required taxes and fees.
- Provide ongoing financial education to operational teams in areas such as internal controls, payroll, labor management, and financial performance.
- Supervise, hire, train, and develop a high-performing finance team through coaching, cross-training, and regular performance reviews.
- Foster cross-departmental collaboration through financial insights and support business practices that drive a sales-focused culture.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications :
This role is an on-site position and requires the employee to perform their work duties at the job site location. The employee will be exposed to typical equipment and temperatures found in a front office setting of a hotel. Education And / or Experience :
Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in a finance or accounting role within the hotel industryPrevious supervisory experience requiredExtensive experience working with major hotel brandsStrong numerical and analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and develop practical solutionsProficient in handling cash, accounting procedures, and general administrative tasksDemonstrated ability to define problems, collect and analyze information, and solve unfamiliar or complex situations using logical reasoningProficient in Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applicationsAbility to calculate a wide range of mathematical concepts, including percentages, interest, discounts, proportions, and volumeSkilled in reading and interpreting operational documents such as safety rules, procedure manuals, and technical instructionsCapable of writing clear and concise reports and correspondenceStrong communication and active listening skills with the ability to understand, clarify, and resolve issues raised by co-workers and guestsMaintains composure and objectivity in high-pressure situationsAble to solve practical problems where limited standardization exists and apply deductive reasoning to execute instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formPHYSICAL DEMANDS :
