Job Description
We are looking for an engineering technician to evaluate battery propagation resistance during the early design stages across all vehicle and energy storage programs. In this role, you will be responsible for safely testing packs and sub-scale packs, developing new test methods and failure analysis techniques, organizing tests for smooth execution, improving test equipment and training technicians on new tests.

Responsibilities
- Lead and conduct abuse tests on modules, battery packs and related components under electrical, mechanical and thermal stresses
- Collaborate with engineers on technical reviews to ensure safety requirements and test targets are met
- Plan and manage test execution, including physical and digital logistics
- Design, fabricate, and modify test fixtures and equipment for early design iterations
- Improve test capability and efficiency by making continuous improvements to test methods, rigs, equipment and by communicating feedback to engineers
- Conduct post-test teardowns to evaluate failure modes of concern
- Document test setups, results, and teardown findings clearly and thoroughly
- Train technicians on new pack architectures, test methods and techniques, including developing standard operating procedures
- Perform periodic maintenance, calibration, and repairs on test equipment
Requirements
Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience in a lab, or field settingStrong awareness of safety hazards, procedures, and best practicesExtensive hands-on experience with machining and power tools. Welding and fabrication skills highly desiredSolid understanding of electrical and thermal fundamentalsProven problem-solving and troubleshooting skillsAbility to collaborate with engineers and build test rigs to specificationsFlexibility to travel between test sites based on program needs for up to 20%Hands-on experience at cell, module, or pack level testing highly desiredExperience with module or pack teardowns and inspections highly desiredFamiliarity with National Instruments DAQ systems and LabVIEW highly desiredBenefits
