Long Island based Law Office specializing in personal injury and medical malpractice seeks a personable, organized and motivated full-time Paralegal / Legal Assistant to join our firm.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (DO NOT APPLY UNLESS MEET) :
- BI-LINGUAL : English and Spanish
- Minimum of 2-3 years in a personal injury or medical malpractice law firm.
- Full Time; In-Office in New Hyde Park, NY
- Tech savvy and familiar with lead and case management systems
- Ability to manage court calendar
- Clear communication skills and ability to speak with clients, witnesses, opposing counsel, experts, etc.
- Ability to follow work-process guidelines, multi-task and prioritize workload to meet deadlines
- Proficient with legal research software
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools and Google Suite
- Reliable and responsible.
- Collaborative mindset with a commitment to ethical standards and excellence
- Must be a proactive and have a can-do positive attitude.
Responsibilities include :
Handling new client intakesManaging cases through proprietary databaseSecuring required documents from clients, including retainer documentation, medical records, authorizations.Open claims with carriers; file no fault applicationsDrafting : Summons and Complaints; Bills of Particulars; Discovery Responses; Discovery Demands; Requests for Preliminary Conferences; Note of Issues, Settlement Paperwork, etc.Communicating with clients, other attorneys’ offices, experts, witnesses, medical providers, hospitals, etc. to obtain necessary records and documents.Assist with preparation for depositions hearings and trial presentationsSupport firm’s daily operationsSALARY COMMENSURATE WITH EXPERIENCE
