Qualifications : Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of any GED Testing Program. Florida State Statute mandates that all high school coaches hold a valid Florida Educator Certificate. Applicants without this certificate must obtain an Athletic Coaching Certificate from the Florida Department of Education. Knowledge of the sport and the ability to impart this knowledge are essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Operate a program within the philosophy of the school.
• Administer game details for home and away contests.
• Assign specific duties to assistant coaches and ensure effective communication.
• Be aware of legal responsibilities, take precautions against negligence, and keep staff informed.
• Maintain and order equipment and facilities.
• Recommend assistant coaches and letter winners.
• Use sound coaching methods and set a good example.
• Be highly competent in rules, techniques, strategies, and skills.
• Motivate staff and players towards goals.
• Promote positive public relations within the school and community.
• Interpret the program as part of the educational mission.
• Stay updated with current developments and literature related to coaching.
• Ensure safety procedures are followed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or athletic director.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : Light work : exerting up to 20 pounds occasionally and 10 pounds frequently.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT : Salary and benefits as per the district's plan. Work hours and year are set by the School Board.
