Position Summary :
This position will work closely with the Corporate Sustainability & ESG team to ensure timely execution of PCA's enterprise sustainability strategy through structured program management, data collection, analysis and reporting, and cross-functional coordination.
This position is responsible for maintaining PCA's sustainability and ESG reporting systems and controls and analyzing data relevant to sustainability and ESG disclosures. It's an ideal role for someone who excels at managing complex workflows, identifying and implementing efficiency opportunities, and understanding and managing stakeholder expectations in a rapidly evolving sustainability and ESG landscape.
Dimensions : The Senior Analyst II , Corporate Sustainability & ESG role will require an individual who possesses a strong foundation in sustainability and ESG principles with attention to details, clear communication skills, the ability to foster collaboration and is well- organized. This individual will require strong skills in project management, data analytics, research, and technical acumen in working in multiple software platforms with large data sets.
The Senior Analyst II, Corporate Sustainability & ESG will be part of PCA's Corporate Sustainability & ESG department, a centralized function responsible for evaluating long-term ESG risks, working with business leaders to effectively mitigate and manage risks, engaging with a variety of stakeholders including customers, suppliers, and trade associations on sustainability & ESG issues, and communicating our performance to stakeholders. The Corporate Sustainability and ESG department works cross-functionally within PCA to create long-term stakeholder value by taking a people-centric, customer-focused approach to corporate sustainability and responsibility.
Principle Accountabilities :
Regulatory Sustainability and ESG Reporting : The Sr. Analyst II, Corporate Sustainability & ESG, will maintain a working knowledge of regulatory reporting requirements applicable to PCA's business. Develop a system for tracking and monitoring existing and emerging Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations and prepare data reports to meet reporting requirements as applicable. Annually ensure energy data is collected and reported timely for EPA's ENERGY STAR benchmarking program. Work collaboratively with Corporate Sustainability & ESG team to meet assurance requirements for California Air Resources Board (CARB) climate disclosure laws, including data quality reviews, documentation of accuracy and completeness, and process documentation.GHG Gas Inventory / Resource Advisor : Work with plant and mill accountants and controllers to ensure timely, consistent and complete submission invoices for purchased energy, waste, and water. Perform quarterly and annual data audits to identify gaps and errors. Gather data from corporate groups including transportation, containerboard sales, and corporate purchasing for PCA's Scope 3 inventories (upstream and downstream supply chain) and ensure timely upload into the Resource Advisor system. Support work to further automate data collection processes, eliminating the need for manual entry. Maintain accurate accounts (for utilities) and data streams for each PCA site. Maintain PCA's GHG Inventory Management Plan (IMP) and Assurance Matrix (AM).Responsible Business Platforms : The Sr Analyst II, Corporate Sustainability & ESG, supports the Manager and Sr. Director, Corporate Sustainability & ESG by collecting, analyzing and reporting data for a variety of stakeholder-driven frameworks. These include Sedex for monitoring ethical sourcing, EcoVadis for sustainability program rating, Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), ad-hoc customer questionnaires, and PCA's annual responsibility report. Additionally, the Sr Analyst will lead implementation and maintenance of Novisto software, PCA's central sustainability and ESG data repository which will allow the Company to efficiently report to many of these frameworks. Develop quality assurance and efficiency mechanisms in reporting process.Research and Data Analysis : Conduct ongoing research and develop analyses to uncover opportunities, mitigate risk, and inform PCA's strategy and decision-making for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.Decision Making : This position requires a professional able to make timely and measured decisions which require critical thinking and analysis aligned with PCA's Sustainable Business Principles . Most decisions required to be made by this position will receive input from the Manager and Sr. Director, Corporate Sustainability & ESG.
Interactions with Customers and Contacts : Very frequent verbal and electronic / hard copy communication with PCA personnel. Communication ease, collaboration, effectiveness and professionalism are high priority prerequisites.
Position Requirements
Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience.5+ years prior work experience in sustainability, with 2-3 years in the forest products industry a plus.Ability to support programs and policies that align with PCA's Sustainable Business PrinciplesWorking knowledge of ESG voluntary frameworks and standards preferred (i.e. GRI, SASB, TCFD, TNFD, CDP, GHG Protocol, EcoVadis, Sedex, etc.) Experience with GHG data collection and reporting software preferred.Strong interpersonal, listening and communication skills (both oral and written)Strong organizational, analytical and critical thinking skillsAbility to work in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment, prioritize assignments, and manage multiple projects and / or requests concurrently.Strong working knowledge of computer systems including experience with Microsoft Office (advanced Excel skills), SharePoint, Outlook and Teams.Ability to manage multiple large data setsProven ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team with a strong understanding of information sharing between team members to prioritize and manage work streams.LI-VP1
