Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and solution-oriented Buyer to join our team within the Interior commodity of the Ford Customer Service Division, focusing on seats, wire harness, digital, electronics, and semiconductors. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, comfort with conflict resolution, and a solid business acumen.
Responsibilities
- Purchase goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets.
- Support the purchasing function and other relevant departments, communicating any supply problems impacting business operations.
- Act as an interface between suppliers and relevant departments on purchasing processes and new projects.
- Monitor and advise on issues presenting risks or opportunities to the organization.
- Monitor market trends, competitor strategies, and market suppliers.
- Provide cost analysis on new and existing projects and review cost reduction activities.
- Collaborate with the procurement function and explore opportunities for continuous and business improvements.
- Negotiate contracts, improve prices, and terms of business with suppliers, utilizing negotiation and procurement best practice tools.
- Build, maintain, and manage supplier relationships and ensure good communication.
- Conduct research for new components and suppliers.
- Compile data relating to supplier performance for evaluation.
- Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoice issues.
- Resolve supplier shortages and past-due situations.
- Update and maintain commodity strategies.
- Work with cost estimating to develop cost estimates for savings negotiations and mitigate supplier uplift requests.
- Produce weekly reports, charts, and status updates on open assignments and projects.
- Perform market tests, analyze responses, and award sourcing of parts.
- Review open vehicles off the road (VOR) and backorders weekly and expedite parts delivery.
Essential Skills
5-10 years of automotive purchasing / buyer experience.Experience in automotive purchasing.Intermediate Excel skills (testing required with 80% or higher).SAP / ERP experience.Purchasing and negotiation skills.Strong communication and supplier relationship management skills.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree.Experience with electronics, interior, digital, and semiconductor commodities.Motivated, self-starter, and solution-oriented.Experience handling complicated decks with high volume / high cost.Strategic planning and decision-making skills.Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $50.00 / hr.
