Overview
Telecom Tower Structural Welder – Level 1 role at Tower MRL. TowerMRL and Advanced Tower Services have immediate openings for Telecommunication Tower Field Welder – Level 1 at entry level, with opportunities for professional and personal growth while traveling throughout the US. This position may require relocation to Cottage Grove, WI or Albuquerque, NM within 60 to 120 days of employment.
Responsibilities
- Perform a wide variety of field-specific welding duties, with cross-training as a field services professional.
- Weld structural members with consistent quality and safe work practices by understanding and following layouts, blueprints and work orders using flux core wire feed welders.
- Perform welding in out-of-position scenarios and in challenging outdoor conditions (rain, wind, extreme heat / cold, fall protection).
- Identify materials, preparation, and use various welding tools, wires, and machines; troubleshoot by reading blueprints and taking corrective actions.
- Complete QA / QC checks on finished work to ensure conformance with specifications.
- Climb towers up to 500 feet and travel extensively out of state for extended periods (2–3 weeks in the field at a time, with time off backlog after deployments).
- Adhere to all Federal, State, local driving requirements and company safety policies.
- Maintain company vehicle in good condition and use available resources and tools to complete work.
Qualifications / Requirements
Minimum of three years of experience in structural welding.Pass FCAW and SMAW certification tests for structural welders (3 / 8" bevelled plate with backing strip; horizontal, vertical, and overhead).Proficient with cutting torch, plasma arc, and cutting machines; able to work in extremely cold temperatures and off lifts or staging.Ability to travel extensively out of state and for extended periods; possess a valid driver's license; ability to obtain tower climbing certifications.Must be able to lift 50+ lbs and climb towers in excess of 500 feet.High school diploma required; some college preferred; good analytical, written and oral communication skills; ability to work independently and solve problems.Training & Certifications
All new employees will undergo full tower and rescue training prior to first deployment.OSHA 10 (Telecom), Authorized Climber, PPE, RF Awareness, JSA, SOW, CPR / First Aid / Bloodborne Pathogens.Technical training includes Scope of Work, Rigging, Material Handling, Ropes / Knots, Drills / Saws / Grinders, DOT regulations, Load Securement.Pass relevant NWSA credentialing programs to become Telecommunication Tower Apprentice – Level 1.Benefits & Compensation
