Clinical Data Analyst
Acquires, manages, manipulates, and statistically analyzes data obtained from both internal and external resources. Produces detailed, well-written customer reports. Applies qualitative and quantitative techniques to extract data, interpret the data, and produce recommendations.

Clinical Data Management
Coordinates selected external benchmarking projects with State, VHA, and others.Benchmarks with other hospitals to identify best practices and processes.Works with Clinical Data Manager on clinical data projects house wide to maximize efficiency and productivity.Completes outcome report card while tracking and trending measurable improvements in clinical outcomes.Reports to the Director of PI at least quarterly on clinical cost and quality improvements.Performs Quality Review of clinical records as directed by internal or external sources.Reviews and resolves listings of errors and / or inconsistencies identified by data validation checks.Participates in the Quality Control review of clinical data prior to data release.Develops and maintains processes for data validation and integrity for selected projects.Utilizes computer hardware and software including desktop applications, project management tools, and other data management software for data retrieval, data collection, error detection, analysis, and reporting.Acts as a point of contact for all clinical data management activities for a given clinical study or studies with the Clinical Data Manager.Internal / External Data Analysis
Acts as a back-up to Clinical Data Manager for physician profiles and communication of summary data.Develops and assists in developing clinical report cards as designated by the Director, Performance Improvement or Administrative staff.Responds to specific data requests from physicians, administration, and staff.Coordinates record reviews for data validation by state and governmental agencies.Handles data quality reviews, which may involve interpretation and decision-making as to the appropriate course of action.Effectively interacts and communicates with colleagues and customers.Prepares, submit, and reports selected hospital publicly reported data elements.Assists Clinical Data Manager in the submission of data request by state, local, and insurance agencies.Clinical Database Management
Maintains ACC / STS data collection, overseeing data collection process, ensuring data integrity, analysis, and reporting.Runs reports routinely and as requested for the Cardiac Services Department and Cardiovascular Services Committees and its subcommittees.Communicates outcome data timely and effectively to physicians to improve quality.Documents improvements in quality of care for Cardiac Services through usage of the STS / ACC Database.Continually updates data collection staff with new guidelines and data dictionaries, and coordinates data collection processes and people to assure tight deadlines are met.Interacts with hospital teams as a liaison for Performance Improvement and data management purposes.Assists physicians, staff, and administration in identifying clinical outliers and selecting best practice guidelines.Coordinates with clinical teams and IS for the building, testing, data validation, and maintenance of clinical databases.Assists Clinical Data Manager in data cleaning and correction to ensure databases are well-validated and ready for transfer and / or statistical analysis.Actively participates in the development of clinical databases for internal / external data analysis.Outcomes Management / Data Management
Develops key clinical indicators for routine monitoring of performance statistics for internal use and communicates performance internally.Works in collaboration with other departments by utilizing TrendStar data to graphically demonstrate clinical data.Works on various PI and / or TVM projects or teams to improve outcomes and quality of care.Works to establish benchmarks or goals for each identified indicator for quality / cost improvements.Responds to special requests for record reviews from state and federal agencies.Utilizes clinical data to develop and support best practice guidelines.Works in collaboration with IS and other department to develop and improve databases for clinical data analysis.Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the department.Completes other job-related duties and projects as assigned.ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The knowledge, skills, and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of an Associate's Degree or Professional Training. Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Indiana. Up to 1 year experience is required. Five years healthcare experience, with preferably at least 2 years in data management, outcome management, and measurements is preferred. After January 1, 2014, candidates are required to have or obtain a BSN within three years of employment as a Registered Nurse.Knowledge & Skills
Working knowledge of medical terminology and the healthcare field.Demonstrates organizational and problem-solving skills.Demonstrates a basic understanding of medical practitioners and their preferred methods of communicating and improving quality.Working knowledge of computer hardware and software including desktop applications, Clinical Data Management applications and tools.Excellent communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills with the ability to define physician perception concerns.Technical skills including Oracle clinical or other relational databases, Microsoft office (Word, Access, Excel) a plus.Must be able to maintain composure when dealing with physicians and hospital staff.Working Conditions
