Position Overview

Marek Brothers Construction, a second-generation general contracting firm with a 40+ year track record in the Brazos Valley, is seeking a highly skilled Chief Estimator & Project Manager to lead preconstruction and project execution efforts. This hybrid role is designed for an individual contributor who thrives on personally managing the estimating and project delivery process from start to finish. From detailed takeoffs and cost modeling to subcontractor negotiation, schedule management, and project closeout, you will own every step of the process. This position offers direct collaboration with ownership, high visibility across projects, and the opportunity to shape Marek Brothers Construction’s legacy through precision, integrity, and craftsmanship.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technologically proficient, and able to manage multiple projects across diverse market sectors (institutional, higher education, municipal, commercial). This individual will leverage Procore, Microsoft Excel (advanced), BuildingConnected, PlanSwift, and cost modeling tools to deliver accurate estimates, develop winning proposals, and oversee project delivery aligned with Marek Brothers Construction’s standards of integrity, teamwork, and quality craftsmanship.

Key Responsibilities

Preconstruction & Estimating (Chief Estimator Functions)

• Bid Management : Lead all estimating activities including scope reviews, invitations, and subcontractor management via BuildingConnected.
• Takeoffs & Quantity Surveys : Perform detailed digital takeoffs using PlanSwift; validate quantities across multiple trades.
• Cost Modeling & Analysis : Develop project bids, conceptual budgets, schematic-level estimates, and detailed line-item estimates using Excel models with escalation factors, allowances, contingencies, and alternates.
• Subcontractor Relations : Build and maintain strong subcontractor / vendor relationships to ensure competitive coverage across all CSI divisions.
• Bid Review Meetings : Facilitate internal review of estimates with ownership; highlight risks, exclusions, clarifications, and value-engineering opportunities.
• Proposal Preparation : Assemble polished proposal packages (narratives, bid forms, exhibits) tailored to public and private client requirements.
• Historical Cost Database : Maintain and continuously update Marek Brothers Construction’s unit price / cost history for benchmarking and future pricing accuracy.
