Job Description Summary
The Lauder Institute and Wharton School overview : the Joseph H. Lauder Institute houses a 24-month MA program in International Studies, offered as a joint degree with the Wharton MBA or Penn Carey Law JD. The role reports to the Managing Director of the Lauder Institute and is responsible for managing and coordinating key financial and administrative functions, advising senior leadership on financial impact of strategic initiatives, and ensuring compliance across domestic and international programming. The position supervises two full-time staff providing Registrar and Travel support and serves as a liaison to Wharton Computing and Facilities.
Duties Include
- Financial management, reporting, and advisory support for the Lauder Institute finance committee and Wharton F&A
- Assist and advise senior Institute leadership for board reporting and strategic initiatives
- Oversee procurement, disbursement, and travel & entertainment budgets and policies for international programming
- Manage payroll and key functions in Workday; manage faculty appointment deadlines and processes with multiple schools
- Ensure compliance with gift agreements and provide spending data to External Affairs
- Ensure accurate budgeting and awarding of Student Financial Aid; liaison to SAS, Wharton, and PennCarey financial aid offices
- Exercise resource stewardship and ensure compliance with University and School policies
- Supervise two full-time employees
- Serve as liaison to Building and Facilities, computing, and HR
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 3 to 5 years of related experience, or equivalentStrong knowledge of financial management, budgeting, and reporting practices in an academic settingExperience with compliance processes and resource stewardshipAbility to analyze financial data and provide strategic recommendations to leadershipExperience supervising staff or managing teamsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills; experience collaborating with senior leadership, faculty, staff, and external stakeholdersStrong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects and deadlinesFamiliarity with faculty appointments, payroll, or academic administration processesDemonstrated ability to build relationships across units (finance, HR, admissions, student services, facilities, IT)Preferred Qualifications
