Smartville is seeking a motivated Hardware Engineer to join our growing team in Carlsbad, CA. This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career professional to help develop and test the hardware behind our Smartville 360 energy storage systems. You'll work under the guidance of senior engineers and gain hands-on experience with power electronics, circuit design, and communication systems that connect with repurposed EV battery packs.

What You'll Do :
Support schematic design and PCB layout for power electronics and communication systemsAssist with component selection and evaluation, especially for BMS and CAN communicationBuild and test hardware prototypes, verifying communication with EV battery systemsDocument designs, test procedures, and results, including CAN-based data handlingTroubleshoot and debug hardware, supporting root cause analysis for repurposed batteriesCollaborate with software and firmware teams to ensure seamless system integrationStay current on hardware technologies, EV battery systems, and industry trendsFollow safety and quality standards related to high-voltage systems and communication protocolsWhat We're Looking For :
Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (or related field)3+ years of experience in hardware development.Experience with microcontrollers (e.g., STM32, PIC32) and digital circuit designFamiliarity with PCB design tools (e.g., Altium, Eagle)Comfortable using electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, analyzers)Strong problem-solving skills and curiosity about energy systems and communication interfacesGood communication and collaboration skillsBonus Points For :
Knowledge of the CAN protocol and communication with BMS or vehicle systemsExposure to EV battery technology or energy storage systemsUnderstanding of battery management parameters (voltage, SoC, SoH, etc.)Experience with Bluetooth or other communication technologiesFamiliarity with C / C++ or Python for embedded systems or data analysisHands-on experience from school projects, internships, or personal builds in power electronics, renewable energy, or embedded systemsAbout Us :
