Facilities Manager
The Facilities Manager oversees the daily operations, maintenance, and strategic planning of building infrastructure and support services. This role ensures that all facilities are safe, efficient, and aligned with organizational goals. The manager supervises staff, coordinates vendors, and serves as the primary contact for facilities-related concerns. Reports to the Executive Director of Facilities & Support Services.
Work Environment :
- Office Location in Iowa City, Iowa. Levitt Center for University Advancement (LCUA) and Advancement Services Building (ASB).
- Due to the nature of and location of the work required, this position is not eligible for telecommuting / work from home.
- On-call availability for emergencies.
- Occasional evening or weekend work for special projects or events.
Key Responsibilities :
Operations & MaintenanceManage HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.Oversee preventative and demand maintenance programs.Respond to service requests and ensure timely resolution.Project & Space ManagementLead facilities-related projects including renovations, workstation installations, and office moves.Allocate and manage space usage across buildings.Systems AdministrationAdminister building automation systems (e.g., Johnson Controls Metasys, Daikin BAS).Maintain service request ticketing systems, lighting controls, and audiovisual systems.Security & ComplianceCoordinate with security vendors and manage access control systems.Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.Maintain documentation for compliance testing and reporting.Grounds & Vehicle OversightSupervise grounds maintenance including snow removal, lawn care, and garden upkeep.Manage UICA vehicle fleet and recommend replacements.Budget & Vendor ManagementDevelop and manage facilities budgets.Negotiate contracts with service providers and monitor vendor performance.Event SupportCoordinate facilities setup for events including furniture, AV, and custodial services.Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of relevant experience; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.Skills & Qualifications
Strong leadership and organizational skills.Proficiency in facilities management software and building automation systems.Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards.Preferred Certifications
