American Institute, founded in 1924 as the Hartford Secretarial School, provides hands-on training for careers in the world of business, legal, allied healthcare, diagnostic medical sonography, and information technology. The Campus President and Director of Education is responsible for providing visionary leadership and strategic direction to ensure the effective operation, growth, and academic excellence of our hybrid higher education institution. This role oversees and directs academic programs, student services, and administrative functions to foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment. This position will develop and implement innovative educational strategies that integrate both online and on-campus learning experiences to meet the diverse needs of our student body.

This position works in close collaboration with faculty, staff, and external partners across multiple campuses to ensure delivery of high-quality, accessible, and affordable education. Serving as a multiple campus leader, this role is instrumental in advancing the institution's mission to promote student success, lifelong learning, and an inclusive educational environment. This position provides strategic oversight and coordination among campus teams, fostering alignment in academic programming, student services, and community engagement initiatives to ensure consistency and excellence across all assigned locations.

What you'll do :

  • Strategic Leadership : Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction to ensure the effective operation and growth of multiple campuses within the institution.
  • Academic Oversight : Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of academic programs across multiple campuses to ensure they meet high standards of quality and relevance.
  • Innovative Education Strategies : Lead the integration of innovative educational strategies across multiple campuses that integrate both online and on-campus learning experiences.
  • Student Services Management : Promotes student success through management of student services, including admissions, advising, and support services across multiple campuses, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Attends Admissions and occasionally other departmental meetings to provide expertise.
  • Faculty Collaboration : Work closely with faculty across campuses to promote professional development, instructional excellence, and curriculum innovation. Provide direct supervision and support to assigned campus leadership ensuring alignment with institutional goals and fostering leadership development within campus teams.
  • Administrative Functions : Oversee and accountable for administrative functions across multiple campuses, including budgeting, resource allocation, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Conduct student evaluations, instructor performance reviews, and periodic evaluations of equipment, course content, and general school operations.
  • Partnership Development : Establish and maintain relationships with external partners, including educational institutions, community organizations, and industry stakeholders on behalf of all campuses assigned.
  • Mission Advancement : Advance the institution's mission of providing accessible, affordable, and high-quality education for all students across multiple campuses.
  • Guidance and Training : Provide guidance and training for campus director leadership positions as needed regarding training, mentorship, best practices, etc. Travel to other campuses as needed to provide support for campus management teams.
  • Policy Development : Collaborate with corporate office teams to support the development of policies & procedures that reflect best practices and meet the needs of multiple campuses.
  • Promote Student Success : Implement initiatives to enhance student success, retention, and graduation rates. Develop and publish class schedules, review reports, and advise students on academic and attendance matters.
  • Budget Management : Manage campus operations including budget and expenses within thresholds and develop cost-effective measures across assigned campuses.
  • Inclusive Environment : Foster an inclusive and supportive educational environment within assigned campuses promoting diversity, and inclusion.
  • Compliance and Goal Achievement : Ensure adherence to federal, state, and accrediting body regulations, communicate compliance requirements, and collaborate with the online management team to achieve organizational goals in student satisfaction, retention, placement, graduation rates, and academic progress.
  • Lead with Care : Lead, coach, and develop team members across assigned campuses, fostering a culture of wellness, recognition, and engagement. Meet regularly with direct reports in one-on-one and group settings to provide feedback and cultivate / maintain a positive work culture.
  • Perform other duties as assigned : Support additional initiatives and responsibilities as needed to ensure success of the institution and its campuses.

  • Proficiency in overseeing administrative functions such as budgeting, resource allocation, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Problems faced are frequently complex and require broad-based solutions that impact multiple areas of the campus.
  • Requires ability to negotiate and compromise, and ability to communicate and influence campus team.
  • Required Skills / Experience :

  • Bachelor's degree with an education or business focus with complimentary experience in the field of education and / or business.
  • 10+ years of experience in education or training.
  • 10+ years of experience in a leadership role.
  • Ability to professionally communicate fluently in verbal and written English.
  • Ability to support of a diverse and inclusive work environment.
  • Computer literacy / basic computer skills to effectively navigate and utilize the technology required for the role.
  • Preferred Requirements :

  • Any advanced degree, or equivalent experience, especially in education or business.
  • Any professional certifications or specialty.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other business tools such as Microsoft Teams.
  • Other skills and abilities leading educational programs serving non-traditional student populations, online learning programs, and / or for-profit or non-profit educational organizations.
  • Compliance :

  • Demonstrate knowledge of, and carefully follows all applicable federal and state laws and rules, compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the U.S. Department of Education, accrediting agencies, state regulations and, and internal policies and procedures.
  • Effectively communicate compliance requirements to other staff as appropriate and quickly escalate any compliance concerns to the Compliance department.
  • Participate in activities including, but not limited to, student recruitment activities and / or activities related to securing financial aid.
  • Work Environment / Physical Demands :

  • This is an onsite position, with routine travel between campus locations and occasional travel required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Ability to work from home when not on site, as needed, with appropriate home office set up.
  • Compensation Range : $180,000 - $190,000 USD
