Position Summary :
The Relative Resource Coordinator at NACC plays a crucial role in fostering a sense of belonging and connection to traditional Indigenous healing practices. This individual will serve as a bridge between patients / clients and spiritual care services both within NACC and the broader community, promoting the transformative power of cultural healing and traditional medicine. By articulating the value of these services, the coordinator will enhance patient engagement with culturally significant health practices, providing warm, supportive handoffs to spiritual care providers.
Key Responsibilities :
- Advocate for the value of traditional medicine and spiritual care services, fostering patient understanding and acceptance of these healing modalities.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for patients seeking traditional and spiritual care services. Connect them with appropriate resources within NACC or through established community partnerships, ensuring that referrals are handled with warmth and cultural sensitivity.
- Provide clear, compassionate explanations to patients and clients about traditional medicine services. Facilitate understanding of how these services align with personal and community wellness goals.
- Personally introduce patients to spiritual care providers, ensuring they feel supported and welcome. Build trust and establish continuity in referrals, promoting smooth transitions into spiritual care services.
- Maintain close relationships with NACC care teams and external community-based spiritual care providers. Ensure seamless communication and integration of services to support holistic patient wellness.
- Assist in developing and refining programs that increase access to spiritual and traditional medicine services for the Native American community, enhancing service visibility and patient engagement.
- Work closely with Harm Reduction team during community events, outreach, groups and other harm reduction programming. Offer workshops and other supports to harm reduction participants.
- Work closely with tribal health programming. Offer workshops or drop-in groups as needed.
- Create a community network of spiritual care providers, ceremonies and other resources.
- Facilitate workshops and events with traditional healing team
- Support the traditional healing department with ceremonies and community events
