Job Purpose
The Professional Services Solutions Engineer will serve as a technical expert and strategic advisor during the pre-sales process, specializing in designing and articulating complex Professional Services solutions for prospective and existing clients. Reporting to the Director, Solutions Engineering, this role will lead technical discovery, architect comprehensive solutions, and create compelling proposals for complex, value-driven Professional Services engagements. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise, advanced consultative skills, and strategic thinking to drive revenue growth while ensuring proposed solutions are technically sound and deliverable.
Main Responsibilities
- Technical Sales Support : Participate in the pre-sales process to provide technical expertise and Professional Services guidance; collaborate with Sales Team and Solutions Engineers to qualify opportunities and understand client requirements; support the development of technical presentations and demonstrations; address technical questions during client meetings and proposal discussions; articulate the value proposition of our Professional Services offerings; contribute to RFP / RFI responses with detailed technical implementation approaches.
- Solution Scoping & Design : Lead technical discovery sessions; assess client technical requirements and professional services needs; design initial solution architectures and approach; estimate level of effort and resource requirements; identify technical risks and dependencies; collaborate with Professional Services team to validate technical approaches.
- Proposal Development : Validate use of specific Professional Services SKUs / offerings; create custom statements of work; develop detailed scope definitions; collaborate with Sales on pricing strategies; define clear roles and responsibilities; document assumptions and prerequisites; create compelling technical narratives.
- Client Relationship Building : Establish trust through technical expertise; conduct discovery sessions; present PS approaches to client stakeholders including at C-level; address feasibility concerns; support contract negotiations; facilitate smooth transition from sales to PS for won opportunities.
- Delivery Alignment & Knowledge Transfer : Document technical requirements for delivery teams; conduct handoff meetings; provide contextual client environment information; remain available during initial delivery; ensure alignment between sold scope and delivery approach; gather feedback to improve scoping accuracy.
- Continuous Improvement & Market Intelligence : Analyze win / loss outcomes; track actual PS effort versus estimates; stay current on product features and best practices; refine SKUs, methodologies, and tools; share knowledge with pre-sales and delivery teams; identify market opportunities for new offerings.
Requirements
Experience
5+ years of experience in technical consulting, solution engineering, or related rolesProven track record in pre-sales or technical sales support for software solutionsExperience with software implementation or other Professional Services projects and methodologiesBackground in solution design and scoping for enterprise implementationsHistory of successful collaboration with sales teams on complex opportunitiesExperience creating technical content for proposals and client presentationsTechnical Skills
