Responsibilities
Education / Experience
Specialty Fitness Instructor I : Requires six months of experience in teaching specified group specialty fitness class. Must be at least 18 years of age. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Specialty Fitness Instructor II : Requires eighteen (18) months of experience in teaching specified group specialty fitness class. Six months of Thornton teaching experience preferred. Must be at least 18 years of age. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Licensing / Certification Requirements
Specialty Fitness Instructor I : CPR and First Aid certificates, or the ability to obtain both within 30 days of hire required. Certification in a specified specialty fitness class from an accredited organization or Group Exercise or Personal Training Certification from an accredited institution (AFAA, ACSM, NASM, ACE, etc.) to teach class formats that do not have a certification preferred. May need the ability to travel to various locations in a timely manner as the job requires.
Specialty Fitness Instructor II : Group Exercise or Personal Training Certification from an accredited institution (AFAA, ACSM, NASM, ACE, etc.).
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Physical and Mental Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand, walk, kneel, squat, stoop, climb, crawl, repeatedly twist the upper body, talk, hear, see, demonstrate manual dexterity, and be able to repetitively lift 50 pounds. The employee must demonstrate the ability to remain calm during routine and stressful conditions. The employee must be able to physically demonstrate and participate in all fitness exercises, for the duration of the class session, each time it is conducted.
Examinations may include application screening beyond minimum qualifications; written, oral, practical exercise or any combination thereof or other job related assessment deemed appropriate by Human Resources.
