Position Summary :
The Mail Room Clerk is responsible for the receipt, processing, and distribution of official mail and packages at the Earle Cabell Federal Building in Dallas, Texas. Duties include handling daily USPS deliveries, sorting and delivering mail, operating postage meters, and maintaining accountability for all processed items.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Receive, process, and distribute all incoming and outgoing official mail, correspondence, and parcels for participating agencies.Ensure all mail is prepared and transmitted in compliance with USPS, express mail, and CASU requirements.Maintain safety and confidentiality of all mail and parcels handled.Monitor and maintain postage meters, ensuring each contains at least $2,000 in postage; perform weekly updates and report to the COR.Process express, registered, and certified mail, logging control numbers and maintaining tracking records.Conduct and document joint inventory of government-furnished mail equipment with the COR.Receive and sort incoming mail by agency; handle consolidated, pouch, and unaddressed mail appropriately, including routing U.S. Army Corps of Engineers correspondence.Handle packages received from carriers (UPS, FedEx, etc.) and log them via the Corps of Engineers website; deliver within one hour of receipt.Perform internal mail runs, sorting correspondence for internal distribution and outgoing mail according to the delivery schedule.Process outgoing mail, weighing, metering, and dispatching controlled mail to USPS before 4 : 00 p.m. daily.Package, wrap, seal, and label outgoing parcels per USPS standards; apply appropriate markings such as "First Class," "Priority," or "Fragile."Conduct mail pickup and delivery runs at 10 : 30 a.m. and 2 : 30 p.m. in accordance with Mail Point Schedule.Maintain accurate daily logs, chain-of-custody records, and equipment maintenance reports.Requirements :
