STK Engineer / Subject Matter Expert (SME) (1–2 Openings)
On-site at NSWC-Crane – Crane, Indiana
This is a long-term, on-site position
Active Secret Clearance (minimum) required at time of hire
( Top Secret or TS / SCI preferred )
Position Overview :
We are seeking 1–2 experienced STK Engineers / Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to support long-term modeling and simulation work at the Naval Surface Warfare Center – Crane Division (NSWC-Crane) in Crane, IN. This role is critical in supporting Department of Defense (DoD) initiatives involving mission-level modeling, architecture analysis, and performance assessment using AGI’s Systems Tool Kit (STK) .
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience using STK in DoD-focused simulation environments and a strong understanding of military systems, orbital mechanics, sensor modeling, and communication systems.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop, configure, and execute advanced STK scenarios to support system design, mission planning, and analysis efforts
- Use STK to model satellite orbits, sensors, communication links, and engagement timelines
- Integrate STK with external software and tools via APIs (e.g., MATLAB, Python, C++)
- Analyze and interpret simulation outputs to inform system requirements and design decisions
- Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and stakeholders across government and industry
- Support technical documentation, briefings, and presentations of simulation results to DoD leadership
- Maintain and update simulation environments in line with evolving mission and system requirements
Required Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related fieldActive Secret Clearance (minimum)5+ years of hands-on experience with STK in a DoD or defense contractor settingStrong understanding of space systems, RF modeling, sensor payloads, and mission-level architectureProficient with at least one programming / scripting language (Python, MATLAB, C++)Familiarity with DoD acquisition, modeling & simulation (M&S), and system-of-systems analysisExcellent communication, collaboration, and technical documentation skillsPreferred Qualifications :
Top Secret or TS / SCI ClearanceMaster’s degree in a relevant fieldExperience integrating STK with larger simulation frameworksPrior work supporting NSWC-Crane or other Navy / DoD labs
